Overall Purpose of The Job

  • Drive technical governance and common activities within all Regional Offices, to maintain consistent technical standards and monitor compliance across V.Group PMS systems.
  • Promote awareness in technical, safety management and environmental skills of personnel ashore and onboard ships through the review, development, implementation and monitoring of standardised PMS databases, ensuring PMS systems onboard all managed vessels are compliant with Regulatory Authorities and maritime standards.
  • Responsible for the standardised approach and implementation of Critical equipment, across similar vessel segments, ensuring same is accurately identified within PMS systems.
  • Establish and maintain key relationships with suppliers and all classification societies and provide timely feedback internally on new technologies, legislative dictates and Sustainability activities, ensuring makers service letters are obtained and encompassed within V.Groups software suit.
  • Provide assistance to regional offices during Third-Party Audits, and support the future development of V.Group PMS software and training program and incorporate Green House Gas technology developments.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Responsible for the collaboration with relevant stakeholders for the continued review and development of a comprehensive Planned Maintenance System, tailored to the specifications and machinery of each vessel within our fleet, taking necessary actions to optimize performance and standardisation across vessel segments in coordination with PMS admin team.
  • Promote and ensure effective technical management techniques and PMS systems are in use within all regional offices and safeguard technical content is fit for purpose, ensuring compliance with regulations set by the Classification Society, Flag state, Port State Control (PSC) requirements, Greenhouse gas technologies and sustainability activities.
  • Responsible for the standardised approach and implementation of Critical equipment, across similar vessel segments, ensuring same is accurately identified within PMS systems to promote Efficient maintenance and minimize downtime.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for process optimization and recommending improvements to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the PMS.
  • Establish and maintain key relationships with suppliers and all classification societies and provide timely feedback internally on new technologies and legislative dictates, ensuring makers service letters are obtained and encompassed within V.Group's software suit and readily available via ShipSure Document Manager.
  • Support Group HSEQ team and regional technical directors in identifying and addressing adverse PMS trends and where required review technical incident reports in accordance with Group values to share lessons & findings learned across all technical management offices. (Technical and safety bulletins / circulars)
  • Representing and supporting our technical department in thirdparty audit sessions, such as TMSA,, ISM, ISO, etc.
  • Staying uptodate with international standards, industry best practices and integrating them into the PMS databases.

Essential

  • Engineering Sea going experience is essential.
  • Excellent technical understanding, awareness and knowledge of all relevant requirements involved in the safe and efficient ship management functions.
  • Strong knowledge of Port State Control, Flag state, MLCC Compliance and Vessel Classification requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and preparation of project deliverables, including managing quality, financial budgets, programmes, timescales and resources.
