Description
The Citadel is a grade-two listed church building situated in the heart of York.Whilst home to a vibrant and active church community (York City Church), it is also a venue hired for a variety of events including concerts and conference meetings.
York City Church has a vision of being a church which is 'in the city, _for_ the city'.What goes on in the Citadel, including the way we work with external users of the building, is very much part of that expression of life and goodness to York.
The role of Facilities Support Assistant has been created as part providing that excellent hospitality and welcome, to help support the set-up and preparation of the events at the Citadel.
Duties
Roles and Responsibilities include some, or all, of the following:
Preparing and Setting up for events:
- Liaising with Rentals Coordinator regarding event requirements
- Setting out seating/tables
- Assembling/disassembling staging
- Assisting in the setup of technical facilities as required
- General housekeeping: cleaning, tidying and preparing the venue for events
- Decoration for special events (e.g. drapes and fairy lights)
- Ensuring safe storage of equipment/deliveries before or after the events
- Responsible person for the citadel during an event
- Point of contact for users during the event
- Providing welcome and excellent customer service, responding to ad hoc requests from users
- Serving refreshments if required
- Clear up and clean facilities used during events including kitchen, refreshments facilities and washing up
- Operation of building's heating/lighting
- Keyholder opening up and locking up before and after an event (if only opening or locking up is required then a flat rate will be paid rather than the hourly rate see details below)
- Opening up/locking up
- Handling adhoc enquiries from the public
- Reporting any hazards or accidents/incidents to Church Administrator
- Ensuring appropriate storage of waste for disposal

Hours:
Ad hoc depending on event activity.
Hourly rate:
£11.44 per hour (plus 12.07% holiday pay).

The Rentals Coordinator
Working with:
Church Administrator / Duty Managers / Building Maintenance Team / Deacons / other Facilities Support Assistants
Person Specification
Essential Qualities
- Punctual, reliable, hardworking
- Able to work well with others
- Positive work ethic and genuine enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Handson attitude
- Confidence and initiative
- Over the age of 18 with the right to live and work in the UK
- Experience working in events or hospitality
