Customs Compliance and Logistics Specialist III

The Position:

Customs

  • Process and manage both Import & Export entries including but not limited to;
  • Providing clearance instructions for imports into the UK and EU.
  • Manage and audit customs entries performed by carriers and customs brokers to ensure accurate entry and duty payment.
  • Coordination of applicable Duty/Tax payments to government agencies, including reporting as needed.
  • Interacts with freight forwarders/carriers/agents where needed to collect documents, pay freight charges and other fees to ensure customs release and final delivery.
  • Obtains POD on all imports
  • File, maintain and audit records as required by regulations.
  • Approves internal export invoices.
  • Monthly audit of Export declarations for accuracy and compliance.
  • Liaising with Customs agencies on shipment arrivals where information requests, manipulation or other where needed.
  • Classifies and maintains product dictionary, ensuring that all items have accurate product descriptions, appropriate tariff classifications, ECCNs and preferential treatment based on regulatory requirements with mínimal assistance from Management.
  • Monitor duty deferment accounts in UK & Ireland.
  • Support any internal customs queries.
  • Perform Intrastat report requirements.
  • Monitor any changes to EU/UK Customs regulations/Law and advise internally.
  • Perform, manage, monitor and report on IPR authorisation held in Ireland:
  • Identify importations qualifying for IPR.
  • Ensure customs broker/carrier are advised of correct clearance requirements.
  • Interact with staff in Ireland repair shop ensuring requirements pertaining to the authorisation are maintained.
  • Files and maintains records as required by regulations.
  • Identifies IPR products being reexported and ensure requirements are met.
  • Liaises with Irish Revenue officials when required.
  • Maintains the IPR scrap log and ensure the scrap process is followed.
  • Submits monthly Bill of Discharges.
Logistics

  • Arranges freight for adhoc shipments such as events and customer demos.
  • Identify inbound shipments and track to delivery.
  • Obtain and onforward documents where needed.
  • Respond to requests for information from internal parties on status of shipments and interface with 3rd party and internal parties to resolve issues and escalate to management as needed.
  • Support team members in problem solving and escalation to management where appropriate.
  • Resolve shipping/transportation issues with respective shipping groups in the various company established logistics systems.
  • Review, audit and correct transportation billing against contracts and tariffs to ensure compliance when assigned.
Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain end to end department trade compliance process flows in the format of a Desk Level Procedure.
  • Manage Department SharePoint site with information in relation to Customs Trade compliance.
  • Create training material including videos for internal use.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • English as primary language
  • Intermediate level of knowledge and experience in import processes, customs brokerage functions and international logistics process required.
  • A knowledge and understanding of the Harmonized General System of Preferences (GSP), in order to classify products and determine dutyfree on imported goods, if applicable.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of Export Administration requirements (ECCN) rules and regulations to classify goods for export.
  • Ability to process compliant and timely Customs Entries with little to no supervision, and to monitor departmental activity of same
  • Knowledge and understanding of IPR, duty deferment schemas, and import tax refund processes pursuant to government regulations and company policy.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and spoken).
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional manner.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to track multiple activities involving numerous details.
  • Ability to work on assignments that are moderately complex requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations to business stake holders/Management.
  • Normally receives little instruction on daily work, receives direction on development of solutions and process for more complex or new issues or processes.
Education/Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within a Logistics/Customs arena.
  • Experience & overall understanding of international trade compliance processes.
  • Minimum 5year customer service experience required.
Other Requirements

  • Ability to work 'Out of Hours' on an as needed basis.
  • Able to travel within EMEA region (limited requirement)
