What's in the role and what are we looking for?


As Ecommerce Merchandiser you will assist the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead in the effective management of Cotton Traders UK / IE websites and the App.

Including but not limited to product launches, trade reporting and subsequent trading of the site, visually merchandising where appropriate and briefing in content and collections.

You may be required to deputise for the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead in meetings or as line manager to the Junior Ecommerce Merchandiser and Ecommerce Assistant at times.

A key part of this role is to identify and implement opportunities to drive sales across all sales generating areas of all websites, analysing all aspects of the customer conversion funnel to maximise conversion.


The key responsibilities for the role include:

Trading

  • Own agreed website departments and visually merchandise all relevant product categories, homepage categories and ongoing collection categories in line with seasonal trading calendar and marketing plan, reviewing to make sure the business wide agreed VM strategy is in place
  • Review key lines and bestselling product weekly to ensure opportunity is maximised and products have a good visibility throughout the website and on digital marketing channels
  • Review slow selling products with Stock Merchandising and agree with Ecommerce Merchandising Lead appropriate actions to improve sales
  • Review and suggest changes for website product categorisation and range navigation and website filters
  • Maintain onsite search rules and search management including but not limited to synonyms, searches with zero results, stop words, compound words and redirects, identifying poor converting terms and areas to improve conversion
  • Have knowledge of sorting rules and product recommendations rules and any tests we have in place, and support the EMM and Digital Optimisation Manager on implementing these as applicable

Website content

  • Decide on product selects for online content including but not limited to homepages, inspirations, navigation and landing pages in line with the seasonal plan created with the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead
  • Demonstrate commitment to innovation; Input ideas, content requirements and brief website content to internal Creative & web development teams (design, copy, web developer)
  • Take away key learning from competitor analysis, end of season reviews and convert into proposals for CT content changes / new initiatives where applicable
  • Brief website content testing requirements to EMM and Digital Optimisation Manager as applicable to increase website content engagement
  • Select priority products, themes and category stories for UK, IRE territories to inform Digital CRM broadcast calendar and oversee the set up associated product collections in line with broadcast dates, passing to EJM to brief
  • Feedback changes to planned product features based on in trading performance to ensure CRM communications gain maximum impact
  • Maintain an awareness of results to inform future planning, agreeing with Ecommerce Merchandising Lead and Digital CRM Team

Reporting

  • Deliver associated trade reporting as agreed with Ecommerce Merchandising Lead providing actionable insights to boost trade across all key websites and App
  • Use Analytics tools and associated systems to inform merchandising and trading recommendations made to Ecommerce Merchandising Lead

Optimisation

  • Input ideas to shape the detail and direction of the Product Recommendations ruleset testing roadmap
  • Support Head of Digital, Ecommerce Merchandising Lead as required in adopting new merchandising features available on SCC platform, or via third party technology provider

Team

  • Support and deputize for the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead on day to day tasks to ensure timely and accurate delivery of campaigns, content, trade deliverables
  • Oversee the training and agreed tasks of the EJM alongside the EMM
