Bank staff - variable hours to cover for absent staff.
Job Details
Staff at the pre-school create a happy, stimulating and caring environment aiming to develop in the children the skills necessary to succeed in the future.
Setting Type:
An independent pre-school registered with the Charity Commission taking children from 2 to 4 years.
Hours:
Term time pre-school with a Holiday Club. Flexible term time hours between 7.45am to 6pm Monday to Thursday and 7.45am to 3pm Friday. Additional hours available during the holiday periods.
Contract:
Casual worker status
Salary:
Currently £11.85 an hour
Qualification:
Desirable
- a Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification. If no qualification, then experience of working with young children will be an advantage.

Main Responsibilities
The following list includes the key elements of the job, but it is not an exhaustive list.
We aim to have our 'Bank' staff fully integrated into the team and have included this level of detail to give an accurate picture of life in our pre-school.
Where a 'Bank' member of staff is supporting on an 'odd day' or short-term basis, some of this may not be applicable.
- To provide engaging and purposeful experiences and a stimulating environment for the children, appropriate to their age.
- To create a supportive and caring ethos in all aspects of the preschool environment in which individual children are encouraged to develop selfesteem, selfconfidence and a respect for others.
- To provide for the allaround daily needs of children, including their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development this will involve selfhelp skills, toileting, personal care and eating skills.
- To ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child.
- To help set up the play areas for activities, rotate and clean resources and, when needed during a session, help put out a range of ageappropriate toys and games.
- To follow the preschool protocols and policies.
- To encourage children's language and communication development and be aware of ways to stimulate language and communication through play, books, stories and by personal interaction.
- To ensure, with colleagues, that learning opportunities are available in the outdoors as well as within the preschool building.
- To take part in preschool meetings if appropriate.
- To be committed to working in an environment that promotes social inclusion and be aware of diversity issues, so ensuring that every child has experience of a supporting and caring ethos.
- To occasionally support small groups of children on trips.
The pre-school is committed to the continuous professional development of all its staff, and therefore all team members will be expected to participate in any statutory training e.g.
Requirements:
A) Desirable
- Some experience of Early Years education.
- Have good behaviour management skills for younger children.
- Be prepared to understand some of the requirements of the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Paediatric First Aid qualification can undertake this once appointed.
- Qualified at Level 2 or above in Early Years Education.
B) Helpful
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Have high expectations of all children.
- Food hygiene certificate.
- Be able to work collaboratively in a small team.
