Selection & Outreach Associate for the Global Rhodes Scholarships
Salary:
£26,000 - £28,000 (pro rata), plus benefits
6 month fixed term contract in the first instance, 1st July - 31st December 2024
Location:
Hybrid; ability to work partly from Rhodes House in Oxford is highly desirable. The post-holder will be required to be in Oxford for the annual Selection weekend in November
We have an exciting new opportunity for a
Selection & Outreach Associate for the Global Rhodes Scholarships to join the Rhodes Trust.
This role will report directly to the National Secretary for Global, and works in close coordination with Rhodes House staff, especially in the Selection & Outreach Team.

The Rhodes Trust is an educational charity which offers Rhodes Scholarships to exceptional students from around the world to come and study at the University of Oxford.

In recent years, we have also partnered with several other remarkable organisations to create the Mandela Rhodes Foundation, Atlantic Institute, Schmidt Science Fellows, and our most recent initiative called RISE.
The role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly-organised, individual with excellent IT skills and a strong commitment to the mission of the Rhodes Trust to provide comprehensive administrative and logístical support for the Rhodes Scholarships for Global (see the person specification for more details).
The role will be responsible for:
Managing the National Secretariat
- To assist the National Secretary of the Global Scholarships with implementing the strategic direction of the Rhodes Trust and align all activities of the Trust in a coordinated approach in the Global constituency.
- To effectively coordinate the operations and logistics of the National Secretariat (NS) for Global, providing support on selection, general administration including mailbox management, and implementation of systems and processes.

Selection
- Working with the National Secretary (and Deputy as appropriate):
- annually agree the selection dates and share calendar invites in advance;
- Communicate key selection round information with the S&O Team at Rhodes House according to annual deadlines

Outreach
- Together with the team at Rhodes House and the National Secretary (and Deputy Secretary as appropriate), design and implement the annual outreach programme in the constituency; develop and distribute marketing materials for the region; develop an annual social media strategy campaign; and help coordinate information sessions at universities, schools, and with tertiary scholarship programmes in targeted regions.

Alumni relations
- Build and nurture relationships with Rhodes Scholars (elect, resident and alums) and encourage active involvement in the community and governance structures as officebearers or as volunteers for specific roles, e.g. selectors/observers at selection sessions,
- Organize an annual gettogether for alumni, Scholarsinresidence, and Scholars-Elect in Oxford (inperson or virtual).

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
- Experience in education and/or business administration.
- Excellent organisational skills and effective office management skills.
- Proven experience of budget planning, management and reporting.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and coordinate a range of tasks and activities, and to prioritise a range of tasks effectively to consistently meet deadlines.
- Experience of working within a complex organisation, with demonstrable experience of managing change in a complex, evolving environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, with an excellent command of the English language both orally and in writing.
- Proficient user of IT, including MS skills, Dropbox/Google Drive, and Zoom.
- A deep commitment to the values, ethos and mission of the Rhodes Trust.
