A well-established Accountancy Practice is looking for an Accounts Trainee to join their team, based at their office in Scarborough.

Salary is circa £26,000 depending on experience and qualification, alongside a generous benefits package of up to 29 days annual leave, including bank holidays and a day gifted at Christmas The role also offers attractive working hours, life assurance, study support and progression opportunities.

Reporting into the Senior Team, the Accounts Trainee will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with accounts preparation for clients.
  • Conducting audits and producing audit files for review.
  • Working independently and as part of a team to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Demonstrate professionalism within the office environment and whilst attending client premises or communicating with clients verbally or in writing.
  • Build and develop trust and relationships with your clients, always maintaining client confidentiality, in order to build a professional network.
  • Be proactive in terms of managing your own workload and being aware of when it is necessary to prioritise certain tasks.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required
This is a brilliant opportunity that can be adapted to the right individual's experience. Experience within an Accountancy Practice is desirable, but not essential to be successful in this role.


This opportunity would ideally suit an individual studying their AAT, ACA or ACCA, with the Client also looking to offer study support for the right individual.

You may also be a University leaver with exemptions, looking to pursue a career in Accountancy and Finance.

Based at our Client's Scarborough office, this role is commutable from Scarborough, Whitby, Pickering, Malton, Filey and surrounding areas.

To be successful in this Accounts Trainee role, the individual will ideally:

  • Have experience in a similar, finance-based role
  • Have experience using accountancy software skills such as Sage, Xero, Quickbooks or other packages, as well as MS Excel skills
  • Be studying your AAT, ACA or ACCA and wishing to study further (desirable)
  • Be personable and friendly, and have a good work ethic
  • Have strong communication skills, at all levels, and be confident speaking and liaising with Clients of the Accountancy Practice
