People Advisor to join us for 9 months
As a People Advisor at Bidwells, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive guidance and support to line managers, fostering positive employee relations, and championing employee wellbeing and equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives.
Although this role is based in Cambridge, the successful People Advisor would support the entire business with People related matters so adhoc travel to other locations may be required.
What you'll be doing:
- Offer expert guidance to line managers on people management best practices, including performance management, employee relations, and HR policies.
- Assist line managers in handling employee relations cases such as disciplinary and grievance matters, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to devise strategies for enhancing employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction at a team level.
- Manage escalated queries from our people administrator and coordinate responses from our People Queries inbox.
- Update manager toolbox kits and provide support for sickness absence cases and employee wellbeing initiatives.
- Oversee the reasonable adjustments framework and advise on implementation.
- Contribute to enhancing the employee experience through onboarding processes, recognition programs, and career development initiatives.
- Optimize processes within the people team, focusing on automation for improved efficiency.
- Collect qualitative data on employee experience and analyse people data to identify areas for improvement.
- Review and advise on changes to People Policies, ensuring compliance with legislation.
- Provide People policy guidance to the wider business and support senior team members in change projects.
- Ensure compliance with Home Office Sponsorship license, manage certificates of sponsorship, and oversee righttowork checks.
- Assist in compiling consultant contracts and undertake IR35 due diligence.
About you:
- Experience coaching managers through Employee Relation tasks (PIPs and performance management, feedback conversations, maternity/paternity/shared parental and adoption leave, flexible working requests)
- Demonstrable examples of improving processes and ways of working, ideally through the use of automation
- Uptodate knowledge of UK employment law legislation
- Experience supporting with complex employee relation cases
- Understanding the need to take a commercial approach
- A driving license is desirable as the role will involve occasional travel to our other Bidwells offices, but those without will be considered.
