Reporting to:
School Business Manager


Hours:
Preferably 12.30pm-4pm 4 days per week and 10am to 4pm one day per week (day to be agreed), alternatively 12pm to 4pm five days per week


Contract:
Permanent with 6 month

probationary period.

Salary:
£21-23k pro rata, (actual salary based on 20 hrs per week £11,221-£12,261) dependent on experience

Parayhouse
School is seeking a part time Receptionist/Administrative Assistant to support with essential school management activities including basic finance, student and staff administration.


Parayhouse is a non-maintained special school for students with significant speech, language and communication needs, moderate/severe learning difficulties and associated social, emotional, behavioural and medical difficulties.

The School caters for 50+ students from years of age.

The Receptionist/Admin Assistant will assist the Senior Leadership Team (SenLT) in various aspects of school business by providing administrative and organisational support


This includes support to:

  • Proving a quality reception service to all parents, pupils and other visitors both face to face and over the telephone from 12,30pm to 4pm four days per week and one day per week working from 10am to 12.30 in admin office and 1pm to 4pm on Reception
  • To allow visitors/parents entry to the school via the CCTV entry system and in line with the school security procedures
  • Log and report premises issues to site management and overseeing response
  • Manage the school lunch payment module
  • Managing petty cash, both day to day processing, inputting on Quickbooks and reconciling petty cash tin
  • Supporting with credit card usage recording both in day to day use and recording in Quickbooks
  • Inputting student/staff absence and contacting parents as required
  • Updating SIMS with new student information received
  • Fire Evacuation procedures

  • Maintain positive, courteous relations with pupils, parents and colleagues
  • Attend any relevant meetings, training days or briefings as required
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and adhere to GDPR guidelines

Person Specification

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team building strong relationships including the ability to demonstrate patience and a commitment to supporting the work of those around them.
  • Ability and flexibility to work well under pressure and manage time sensitive workload
  • Willingness to develop your skills and knowledge of students with speech, language & communication needs
  • Dedicated and enthusiastic professional who has good ICT skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information as appropriate
  • Have a relentless focus on achieving the highest standards and a commitment to supporting the school to ensure the very best outcomes for our students
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work reflectively and to identify opportunities for improvement and best practice at all times
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Experience in an administrative role is preferred but not required.
  • A knowledge and understanding of the special needs educational environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience of SIMS and Quickbooks preferred but not essential.
