Part of a £35m turnover Group, Conservatory Outlet is Yorkshire's leading manufacturer of high-quality home improvement products spanning contemporary extensions, conservatories, orangeries, replacement roofs, windows and doors in both uPVC and aluminium.

**Role Responsibilities: - To forecast levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels.

  • To conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, reliability, quality, and delivery schedules.
  • To liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments, and customers.
  • To identify potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers and building and maintaining good relationships with them.
  • To negotiate and agree contracts and monitor their progress, checking the quality of service provided.
  • To ensure the processing and checking of supplier invoices and match with the relevant purchase order and prices.
  • To maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • To oversee the preparation and processing of requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • To participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.
  • To control the purchasing department budget.
  • To develop and deliver presentations about market analysis and possible growth.
  • To develop the organisation's purchasing strategy.
  • To produce reports and statistics using computer software.
  • To evaluate bids and make recommendations based on commercial and technical factors.
  • To ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives.
  • To attend relevant meetings and trade conferences to learn about new industry trends and make contacts with suppliers.
  • To develop the purchasing department vision, values and objectives aligning these with the company objectives and agreeing KPI's.
  • To direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • To support and develop the purchasing team, providing coaching, mentoring, feedback and support to team leaders and supervisors.
  • To monitor performance and progress of team leaders/supervisors and their respective teams, identifying any skills gaps.
  • To review and agree department and individual business objectives, aligning these with the business objectives and agree team and individual key performance indicator.
  • To undertake regular one to one supervision with the team leaders/supervisors and ensure the team leaders/supervisors undertake these with their team members.
  • To develop and implement the departmental skills matrix, ensuring that the team have the appropriate training opportunity to develop and enhance their skills and performance.
  • To be responsible for the appropriate departmental staffing levels, working with HR if a staffing need is identified.
  • To work in accordance with health and safety regulations, and also ensuring the health and safety of all staff.
Reporting near misses and RIDDOR.

  • Any other reasonable duty that may be assigned.
  • To ensure process are implemented with the use of CAR's.
**Person Attributes: - Previous experience of working in the manufacturing sector would be desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent negotiating skills with the ability to negotiate best value for money and network with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills with strong knowledge and experience of analytical work.
  • The ability to demonstrate effective time management, prioritise own tasks and manage own workload.
  • To ensure all work is completed in a timely and accurate manner with proven experience of adhering to deadlines.
  • The ability to identify, manage and implement change.
  • A strong sense of humour with the ability to build good working relations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A highly motivated individual with a cando approach to work and the ability to get the job done in the required timescales.
  • The ability to identify and implement new ways of working to alleviate duplication and streamline systems and processes.
  • A strong understanding of purchasing with the ability to ensure the purchasing department has the levels of stock in place to support production and maintain an excellent level of customer service and delivery timescales.
