Lighting Designer


Base Location:
Leeds or Portsmouth with Hybrid working - Once established, role can be done from any UK location


Salary:

Up to £45,000 plus car allowance and a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and well-being.

What will I be doing in this role?

We're looking for a Lighting Designer to join the Highways Electrical team.

In this role you will be responsible for design work
- predominantly working on LED conversion projects across the UK and Ireland ensuring that client specifications are met and we remain compliant with Lighting Standards.

Some of your day to day tasks will involve;

Carrying out all aspects of the Lighting Design process for LED Lantern replacements, lighting columns, wall mounted units and lit signs/traffic bollards.

Taking ownership of the design element throughout the entire design and construction process.

Undertaking on-site survey works for column replacement or new lighting schemes and lantern changes which includes assessing suitable column positions and the preparation of drawings, risk assessments, schedules and associated works.

You'll be responsible for liaising with various Clients, Customer Care, Construction and Administration teams and members of the public.
You will also provide services to Consultants and Private Developers as needed.

What do I need to be successful in the role?

We would like you to join us with solid knowledge of UK lighting Design gained in a comparable organisation, we would also like to see on your CV;
An awareness of Health and Safety and risk awareness including current CDM Regulations
Market knowledge of lighting products with attention to lantern distribution and energy performance
Strong technical knowledge of road lighting theory, including BS5489-1:2020, BS EN 13201 and other related guidance documents.
Proficient in relevant software packages including Lighting Reality, AutoCAD, MS-Word & Excel, Power point.
Experience in conducting lighting site surveys
Association with the Institute of Lighting Professional (ILP) and an interest in progressing membership maintaining a CPD record.

An understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations and IEE Wiring Regulations with experience in cable calculations would be an advantage, but not essential.

Working knowledge of Traffic Sign Regulations
