Job purpose - Engagement Officer

  • We are seeking a dedicated Engagement Officer to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of young people. If you're passionate about helping youth succeed in education or employment and want to be part of a dynamic team delivering impactful programs, then this is the role for you_


As an Engagement Officer, you will play a crucial role in building strong relationships with young people to ensure they receive the support they need to enter education and/ or employment.

**Key responsabilities

  • Enagagement Officer*
  • Find innovative ways to engage with young people and the community effectively to ensure they have access to education and/or employment.
  • Focus on identifying and addressing the specific needs of young people to eliminate any barriers that might stop them from receiving education or entering employment.
  • Establish partnerships with local community groups, employers, and educational institutions to support young people entering education or employment.
  • Collaborate with partners to identify opportunities for joint initiatives that will increase young people's opportunities to benefit from education and employment.
  • Connect young people with other Get Set UK team members who will guide them towards enhancing their employability skills. The support provided will also include mental health awareness and financial literacy.
  • Enhance young people's knowledge about education and employment opportunities to encourage personal and professional development.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion within all engagement work, ensuring activities are accessible and welcoming to all young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Represent Get Set UK at local events, forums, and meetings to raise awareness about the NEET Programme and the benefits for young people within the community.
**Skills Requirements

  • Engagement Officer**Excellent Communication and Influencing Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with young people to positively impact their lives and inspire them towards personal and professional development.

Youth Engagement:
Proven capability to engage with youth in the community, fostering an environment beneficial to their growth and development.

Relationship Building:

Strong aptitude for building and nurturing relationships with key community partners, including local organisations, schools, youth clubs, and employers.


Proficient in establishing referral agreements with pertinent community partners, ensuring smooth access to vital support services for young individuals, including mental health services.


Confidence in Community Settings:

Be confident in various community settings to effectively engage young people with external partners, for example, employers/ educational institutions.

  • Strong ability to generate and implement innovative ideas to support youth.
  • A proven track record in similar roles, showcasing success in developing effective strategies, building partnerships, and understanding young people's needs.
