ROLE:
LEGAL COUNSEL





LOCATION:
OFFICE BASED IN LONDON





SALARY:
£70,000 - £80,000pa





DURATION:
PERMANENT

A qualified solicitor or barrister with experience ideally gained from a large commercially-driven multinational
organisation or law firm with focus on providing commercial legal advice in relation to construction,
engineering, architecture and design, management and technical consultancy and/or other related sectors.
Some travel within the United Kingdom and Ireland may be required.

**Building on your current experience, your duties will include:

  • Providing commercial terms and conditions advice, including appointment contracts, JV
arrangements, subcontracts and undertaking drafting and other aspects of contract management.

  • Identifying risks and preparation of legal advice with inputs to company risk assessments and requests for approval to proceed with projects or pursuits.
  • Negotiation of contracts and terms with client organisations and their advisors.
  • Preparing bid responses on commercial terms and conditions and related areas, including service descriptions, and will partner with the wider commercial and operations teams to agree suitable flow down to partners where required.
  • Integrating with the wider commercial and operations teams to ensure that contracts fully reflect the detail of the operational solution; for example ensuring that service descriptions are accurate and specific.
  • Undertaking risk and compliance training of staff and helping research and prepare guidance notes for the business on risk, legal and commercial issues relevant to the business.
  • Support and liaison with senior commercial/legal and/or external advisors when required and build the profile of the company's commercial capabilities through legal networking.

  • Good oral and written English communications skills, including superior presentation, reviewing and drafting.
  • Knowledge of Spanish is also desirable but not essential.
  • Negotiation skills in a number of different scenarios including written, telephone and facetoface with UK and international client bodies and their advisors.
  • Solid administration and organisational skills and the ability to work with own initiative as well as being a team player.
  • Ability to be flexible in working, to prioritise workflows and work collaboratively with many parts of the business.
