DOMESTIC STAFF SHOULD / WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO CLEAN / MANHANDLE ANY MEDICAL EQUIPMENT / INSTRUMENTS OF ANY SORT.

JOB DESCRIPTION - DOMESTIC STAFF

To maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the health centre building at all times. For easier delegation of workload this has been categorised into daily, weekly and monthly tasks.

This will include the following areas:

Daily cleaning tasks:
Vacuum cleaning

Floor cleaning

Desks and counters

Waste bins

Other fixtures and fittings

Doors, frames and ledges

Toilet areas

Kitchen areas

Weekly Cleaning tasks Soft furnishings

Painted work areas

Furniture

High ledges

Radiators

Cupboards

Stock monitoring

Monthly Cleaning tasks:
Walls and other surface areas

ANY OTHER DUTY AS REQUIRED BY THE PRACTICE MANAGERS / PARTNERS


CLEANING SPECIFICATION AND SCHEDULE

DAILY TASKS

  • Empty all waste bins, remove contents to central disposal area. Replace all bin liners and disposal sacks.
  • Vacuum clean thoroughly all carpeted areas including corners and under desk areas. Check all carpet areas for spot marks and remove accordingly.
  • Floor areas to be deep washed with appropriate chemicals.
  • Damp wipe, dry polish all desks and counters.
  • Dust all fixtures and fittings, filing cabinets and all other items of decoration.
  • Remove all finger marks from glass doors and screens, light fittings and finger plates.
  • Damp wipe, dry polish all doors, frames, bright metal work, window ledges and skirting boards.
  • Wash all toilet areas, as follows:
  • Floors to be washed thoroughly with appropriate chemicals.
  • Toilet bowls to be thoroughly washed and dry polished.
  • Partitions, tiles, pipes and cisterns to be wiped and dry polished.
  • Toiletries to be replenished as required.
  • Dust all telephone and computer equipment.
  • Switch off all the lights and close all the blinds
WEEKLY TASKS (Additional to above)

  • Damp wipe, wash or vacuum clean as required, seats, chairs and cushions.
  • Wash all toilet areas as follows:
  • Paint work, partitions, tiles, ledges and skirting boards.
  • Polish any furniture that requires cream or silicone polish.
  • Clean down all high ledges, doors, grills and window blinds with feather duster.
  • Clean and sterilise telephone handsets.
  • Damp wipe all radiator surface areas.
  • Clean and tidy cleaners cupboard and storage areas.
  • Check stock supplies for reordering.
  • External litter collection health centre grounds.
Just before 6 pm check with our receptionist if the patients have left so you can lock the gates.

Lock the front gates and the front door

Lock the side door gate - down the corridor - key is behind the door in the stock room.

When done please check if any cars are in the staff car park.

If not then set the alarm - if cars are there then just close the door

Hold key fob to alarm panel

Ignore the battery monitor fail

Panel will say "setting Area 1"

Lock front door and press the doorbell for 5 seconds to arm the alarm.


ROOM BY ROOM TASKS


The rooms are to be given a thorough clean on a two week rotational basis to allow the normal workload to be continued alongside this rota.

Upstairs Kitchen

  • Move all items on the worktop surface and give the surface a thorough clean, make sure the jointed edges of the worksurfaces are cleaned of debris and dirt.
  • Remove all items and clean the cupboard shelves surfaces of all debris and dirt. Replace the items.
  • Microwave interior to be cleaned of all dirt and deposits.
  • Drawers to be cleaned, including draw liners and the door surfaces.
  • Dishwasher edges to be cleaned and the wall next to the dishwasher to be wiped down.
Staff Room

  • All Magazines to be collected and placed into the rack
  • Chairs to be moved and the whole carpet space to be vacuumed.
  • The photocopier should be shifted to clean the dust that gathers behind the copier.
  • All surface to be dusted and wiped clean, including the notice board surfaces.
Toilet Block

  • All surfaces to be disinfected.
  • Floor to be mopped and the toilet bowls and cisterns to be cleaned, both inside and outside.
Dr Thorniley-Walker admin rooms

  • All surfaces to be cleaned thoroughly, clean empty parts of the desk and then move papers to the clean part in order to clean the covered areas.
  • Pull back the moveable notice boards and vacuum at the end of the desks. Liaise with office staff to ensure they are aware you will be cleaning and arrange their desks accordingly.
  • Ensure all telephones are cleaned thoroughly.
Clinical Rooms

  • All surfaces to be cleaned thoroughly, clean empty parts of the desk and then move papers to the clean part in order to clean the covered areas.
  • Move chairs and toy boxes from under the bed, move the beds and clean behind these areas.
  • Vacuum under the desks
  • Wipe chairs down
  • Clean the examination couches, including the supporting frame work.
  • Clean telephones with a cleaning solution and a slightly damp cloth.
  • Clean all shelve areas and noticeboard horizontal surfaces.
  • Clean all skirtin
