Beechwood Cancer Care, established over 30 years ago, is expanding its Family Counselling Team and are looking for a vibrant, enthusiastic qualified Children and Young People's Counsellor.


At an exciting time for the Charity, this position offers an opportunity to join our family support team expanding its range of therapeutic approaches, ensuring young people and families receive the 'right support, at the right time, in the right place'.

We help children come to terms with the illness or loss of a parent or family member.


Requirements:

Fully qualified minimum level 4 and registered with a recognised UK professional body.


Experience of working with children and young people, be personable, flexible and have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualifying experience.

To deliver one-to-one counselling with children and young people 5-18 years

To provide counselling interventions to support young people affected by cancer and bereavement by cancer.

To confidently incorporate creative therapy into sessions.

Experience working with parents, children and families.


Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the challenges and impact of a cancer diagnosis on children, young people and their families.


Assist with the planning and participating in the facilitation of seasonal outdoor therapy and support events, family evenings, support groups and workshops - some of which may be off site.

Experience of managing incidents, risk and safeguarding.

Able to use your own initiative and work as part of a team.

Ability to work under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.

Hours:
Part time 12.5 hours/week (over 2 days Monday to Thursday)

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days plus 8 bank holidays (pro rota)

£24,313.00-£26,039.00 per year
