Position Overview:

We are now seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Wood Machinist to join our friendly team in South Petherton, Somerset.

The Wood Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating the timber moulding machines and machining timber to comply with customer orders, ensuring that the finished result is of the highest quality and always delivered on time.


Key Objectives:


  • Operating and setting the following machines to ensure LM targets are achieved and the finished product achieves the correct quality:
  • Mulders / 4 Siders
  • Spindle Mulder
  • Thicknesser
  • Crss Cut
  • Setting up 4 head, 5 head and 6 head moulders, including specialist/bespoke profiles.
  • Grinding and sharpening cutters, and setting moulding blocks, including bespoke profiles for customers enquiries.
  • Routine cleaning & maintenance of the machines, including the profile grinder.
  • Routine maintenance of tooling for above machines
  • Clearly and correctly tally sawn/machined timber onto production paperwork / system
  • Stack, band, and label each completed order safely and presentably
  • Other Sawmill / Production tasks as and when required

About you:


  • Experience in wood machining, running 4 sided moulders, including setting blocks for profiled sections
  • Experience in griding profiles and sharpening blocks.
  • Experience in working in a timber sawmill, operating machinery, machining timber with a certificate, diploma, or equivalent qualification (preferred)
  • Forklift license (preferred, not essential can provide training)
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Focussed yet flexible approach solution finder
  • Keen attention to detail to pick up on special order requirements and analysing products for quality and accuracy

Up to £30K DOE,
Location: South Petherton, Somerset, UK,
Hours: Mon

  • Fri Full time,
    Holiday: 20 Days Holiday +BH,
