Our client who are a respected law firm in Newcastle are growing their accounts team with the appointment of an Accounts Assistant.


Experience within the legal industry is not required and presents an excellent opportunity to move into a specialist industry and join a law firm who are well known for supporting career progression.


You will work closely and support the Financial Controller in the provision of Financial Services to the practice by providing competent and efficient assistance in cashier/book-keeping duties.


Role Responsibility:


  • To support the operation of the firm's accounting system.
  • To ensure that all banking is done daily via administration function.
  • To ensure that all cheques written are the correct amounts and the Client Account is never allowed to become overdrawn.
  • To enter postings to the accounts system on a daily basis.
  • Petty cash reconciliation.
  • Administer card payments.
  • To ensure that all closed accounts are authorised and that nil balances are achieved before archiving.
  • To manage your own work allocation, productivity and quality of work with minimum supervision.
  • To assist the finance team as required.
  • Any other adhoc duties that may arise/be delegated.
  • Good standard of education.
  • AAT qualified, or ILFM qualified or part way through would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Selfmotivated and able to organise own work with minimum supervision.
  • Cope effectively in demanding circumstances.
  • Good time management, adopting a flexible approach to work.
  • Demonstrate persistence and commitment to completing tasks and objectives.
  • Deliver work output to the required standard.
  • Pays attention to detail and quality of work.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to improving working practices and supports company plans and policies.

Other Details:


  • Full Time and Permanent
  • 9.00am 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
  • Holiday starting at 25 days per annum plus bank holidays.
  • Healthcare and benefits package.

£24,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
