Job Title:
Family Support Worker - Nights


Main Purpose of Job:
We are looking for an experienced and committed Family Support Worker to join our team.

As a support worker at Blue Lily Lodge, you will support and work with parents and children encouraging them to value themselves, encouraging parents to meet their own needs and those of their children within a residential or community setting.

To be an effective member of a dynamic team contributing to the running of the unit.

Main Tasks of Job:


  • To ensure the safety and welfare of children while working within the assessment/intervention process always remains paramount.
  • To assist in the parenting evaluation process, which includes observing families, supervising them, reporting, and recording family interactions, child behaviours, parental intention, and parental capacity to meet the needs of the child.
  • To support our approach of valuing the skills, experiences, and diverse backgrounds of the families placed at Blue Lilly Lodge and how these lived experiences may impact on a person's current behaviours.
  • To attend team meetings and contribute to the ongoing assessment and development of our processes, practices, and procedure.
  • To assist the lead social workers with the parenting assessment by ensuring that observations and monitoring are carried out in accordance with the individual family placement plan, that recordings are kept up to date, and that structured feedback is provided to parents during and throughout each session to ensure transparency.
  • Effectively plan and prioritise workload within set timelines and ensure that all written records meet necessary deadlines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to assess and comprehend the requirements of specific families.
  • Ensuring that all parents understand and follow the rules and policies here at Blue Lilly Lodge
  • Consult with management and other professionals to ensure the child's safety and wellbeing.
  • To promote and sustain equal opportunities and antioppressive practices in the workplace.
  • Follow and execute all Blue Lilly Lodges policies and procedures, including Child Protection Procedures
  • To fully engage in training and supervision, including identifying training courses relevant to your function and personal professional growth
  • Be aware of health and safety duties.
  • If called upon to submit evidence in court
  • Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the registered manager.

Support Planning

  • Ensure continuous quality improvement of support planning, risk assessment processes and procedures
  • Assist in ensuring that placement planning, processes and procedures are adhered to
  • Assist in supporting staff in the development of children's, young people's and families' support plans and monthly goals to meet their identified needs and manage risk
  • Assist in responding to daytoday safeguarding and risk management issues
  • Participate in Service Development including planning, quality monitoring, record keeping, review and evaluation activities to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery
  • Support staff to prepare for and attend key meetings, case conferences and reviews of young people, children and families
  • Assist in managing support activities by working in partnership with Young People and their families as well as from other agencies to effect better outcomes
  • Maintain and develop links with Local Authority Officers and Service.

Person Specification

  • Resilient and motivated
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Calm, approachable manner, adaptable and nonjudgmental
  • Experience in working with vulnerable children and adults
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative or as part of a team
  • Be able to compile evidence and write reports to a good standard
  • IT literate
  • Flexible and able to work shifts
  • Willingness to use own car, business insurance is required

Minimum Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce. A relevant Health and Social Care course or willing to undertake it (required)
OR

  • Diploma or Degree qualification in a relevant Health and Social Care course (preferred)
