Job summary:

Within the Planning Inspectorate a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Digital Trainer. This is a great time to join our growing, friendly, and collaborative Digital & Data Service team.

The team are responsible for creating and delivering digital training to colleagues and stakeholders in the Planning Inspectorate.

Job description:


We are looking for someone who has good communication and problem-solving skills, alongside an ability to build excellent relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.


You will be an energetic and motivated professional with the ability to understand digital products and how they could be used to better support our business processes, with a focus on Microsoft Office 365 products, as well as our bespoke casework management systems.


  • Working closely with business areas to promote best practice for use of digital systems (e.g. casework system, Office 365).
  • Design, create and manage training materials including guides, advice notes and eLearning materials.
  • Support the delivery of induction training to new starters.
  • Provide adhoc/refresher training support to users online and in person as well as regular, targeted training sessions as needed.


The role will also play a key-part in engaging with users to gain an understanding of user knowledge, skills and behaviours to gain the best understanding of the digital training requirements.

Person specification:


Essential Criteria

  • Experience of coordinating and delivering digital training initiatives across appropriate channels and methods of delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships and liaise with multiple stakeholders from across the organisation, assess system changes/project deliveries to determine training requirements and a training timetable.
  • Relationship building skills and ability to engage people
  • Experience of formulating and delivering training with the confidence to present and deliver information to large groups of people
  • Experience of designing, creating, and managing training materials including guides, advice notes and eLearning materials.
  • Understand users, their needs, and ways of working, in order to design, develop and deliver engaged and informative training.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of delivering training for case management systems and office productivity tools such as O36
  • Completion of 'Train the Trainer' course or equivalent
  • Project experience
  • Relevant professional qualification at foundation level (g. CompTIA CTT+, CIPD or TAP) or willingness to study for a qualification within a reasonable length of time
  • Experience of using Training video software (Camtasia/Articulate 360).
