Procurement Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement Officer to join a leading organisation based in Belfast.
This is a Full-Time, Temporary position - with an immediate start (has the possibility of being extended thereafter)

Working hours:
Monday - Friday (36.5 hours per week).

With an hourly rate of £14.67 per hour.


Job Role:


Reporting to the Head of Estates and Procurement Services, you will be responsible for working on several important procurements and projects for the business.

This will include assisting with the tendering, evaluation, placement, and monitoring of designatedcorporate contracts in addition to providing support to key strategic projects.


Essential Criteria:


  • Working towards an MCIPS qualification with at least one years' related experience of procurement, tendering and contract management processes
    ORAble to demonstrate 2 years' relevant experience of procurement, tendering and contract management processes.
  • A broad working knowledge of procurement, tendering and contract management processes.
  • Experience of writing and presenting reports to a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
  • Excellent IT skills, with demonstrable experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload with a high level of accuracy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Procurement Office to deliver a transparent and fair procurement service.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to provide advice on processes, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Keep abreast of changes in such legislation and guidance, and any updates to policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Assist with and advise on compliance reviews of existing contracts.
  • Assist with maximising the use of collaborative contracts.
  • Maintain procurement systems and records to ensure efficient and effective operations and robust internal controls are in place.
  • Assist with monitoring and ensuring achievement of value for money in all the business procurement including collaborating and/or advising colleagues to assist them achieve same.
  • Assist budget holders with contract management skills through ongoing training, development, consultation, and communication.
  • Assist departments with the preparation and development of robust business cases tosupport procurements.
  • Assist with the preparation of a range of procurement and contract management reports for consideration for a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Developing, issuing and evaluation of quotations and tenders.
  • Provide general market intelligence for assigned areas of responsibility through research and other appropriate means.
  • Receive and respond to procurement enquiries from/to staff, escalating requests as appropriate.
  • Produce procurement related letters/documents/presentations typically using standard formats or templates.
  • Run automated or routine reports to support established procurement information requirements.
  • Enter procurement data onto existing systems, databases and/or spreadsheets.
  • Provide administrative support to contribute to the progression of key projects including organisation of project internal or external meetings/events/conferences, booking meeting rooms, preparing and collating information, meeting minutes and/or materials.
