Kumon is a supplementary education provider, specialising in Maths and English programmes tailored to ensure that each child is working at just the right level.
Founded in Japan in 1958, the Kumon Method encourages self-led learning that promotes independence and increases ability, all with the guidance of Instructors.
Purpose:
To support the Instructor in all aspects of delivering the Kumon Maths and English Programmes within the Downham Study Centre for 6 hours per week, Monday and Friday 3:30 - 5:30pm and Saturday 9:30-11:30am.
Applications from sixth form/college/university students welcome, minimum age 1- To assist in setting up and clearing down the study centre in a timely manner to ensure the environment is ready for activity when the first student arrives.
- To ensure students work effectively.
- To supervise students and assist in maintaining discipline.
- To supervise specific student activities including, but not limited to; numberboards, listening to recitation of times tables and listening to and assessing reading.
- To accurately mark and record students' work and complete reporting methods as and when required.
- To liaise with and maintain positive working relationships with parents, i.e. take and/or give messages.
- To prepare students' work.
- To attend supervision, training and meetings and participate in marketing activities as and when required. There may be a necessity for these to be outside of normal working hours, or at weekends.
- To work with, abide by and positively promote all Kumon Educational UK & Ireland's policies and/or procedures including but not limited to, health and safety matters.
- To carry out all reasonable duties as and when requested by the Instructor.
DBS:
Applicants will be expected to have or be willing to obtain a DBS check.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have achieved grade C/grade 4 or higher at GCSE level in English _and _and mathematics.
