About the role
Hargreaves Lansdown is looking for a talented and enthusiastic front-end web developer to help us establish our new HL Design System, focusing on the development, ongoing maintenance and driving roll-out of a react based UI component library across multipleproduct teams.
This will accelerate HL's transformation, by allowing product team designers and engineers to access a set of reusable components to quickly create consistent and accessible experiences across all areas of HL's client and colleague facing journeys.

About you
We are looking for someone that is passionate about delivering market-leading digital experiences for our clients, who has previous experience in design fundamentals and building React-based user interfaces, with the ability to write and support others inwriting excellent code and ensure we are adhering to high quality accessibility standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and deploy new components to HL's Flare Design system library. Ensure UI components developed are scalable, performant and accessible.
- Collaborate with UX designers during new and existing component builds to ensure effective component design and implementation.
- Maintain a strong awareness of accessibility standards and how to test components against best practice and existing industry standards (i.e. WCAG).
- Establish and maintain automated tests for the design system component library, with a continual focus on quality of new components and guarding against regression issues.
- Maintain key documentation for the component library, ensuring it is useful for all stakeholders, e.g. maintaining Storybook.
- Advocate for continuous improvement within the team including for the quality, security and performance of the library and CI/CD processes.
- Complete code reviews for design system components to ensure quality and consistency is maintained within the design system component library.
- Collaborate with and gain feedback from wider HL product and platform teams to ensure developed components can be successfully implemented, used and updated within UI journeys.
- Provide daytoday support for the design system component library, fielding questions on component usage and investigating and resolving component bugs.

Experience
- Demonstrable experience developing and maintaining Reactbased JavaScript SPAs
- Experience with unit, integration, and end to end testing tools and practices (e.g. Jest)
- Experience performing code reviews
- Experience using npm, package management and versioning
- Experience using package JavaScript module bundlers (webpack, )
- Experience following an Agile methodology
Knowledge
Essential
- Excellent knowledge of HTML/CSS (SCSS), JavaScript and Typescript
- Excellent working knowledge of JavaScript libraries and frameworks, in particular, React
- Fluent using Git (GitLab)
- Understanding CI / CD and Trunk Based Development
- Aware of website performance implications and best practices
- Advocate of excellent development practices including accessibility coding practices
- Able to write, assist in writing or reviewing technical documentation
Desirable
- Previous experience of building and maintaining an effective design system component library
- Experience using design system tooling (Storybook, Figma)
- Knowledge of serverside JavaScript ecosystem )
- Experience working with and implementing MarTech solutions such as Analytics, A/B Testing, Personalisation and Tag Management within a website
