Bluesci Mental Health Stop Smoking Practitioner
A new innovative Mental Health Stop Smoking Service.

Delivered through Bluesci a 3rd sector organisation, supporting individuals to stop smoking within a dynamic community setting that promotes social prescribing, psychologically informed interventions, and meaningful connections.


The postholder will coordinate the development of this innovative service, working with individuals, community groups and partners to find local accessible solutions to assist the identified individuals to reduce/stop smoking.


The post holder will work closely with centre managers & Living Well colleagues to delivery the Bluesci Stop Smoking Service.

Creating a supportive & engaging response, promoting 5 ways to wellbeing and social inclusion.

The post holder will be required to work closely with volunteers, users of the service and partners, under mínimal supervision, and on their own initiative.


Job Purpose:


The Stop Smoking Practitioner's key responsibilities are to coordinate the Bluesci Stop Smoking offer aimed at individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.


  • Working collaboratively with the centre managers and Living Well colleagues to develop, implementation and coordinate the Mental Health Stop Smoking offer.
  • Working closely with frontline staff & volunteers to ensure evidence based effective stop smoking interventions are offered at a point of contact.
  • Raising awareness of the service through reporting, case studies and monthly updates to the leadership team
  • Coordinating access to training (Public Health / Maudsley Training Program) and acting as a support the Bluesci / Living Well team

Duties and Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Support Centre Managers & Living Well Colleagues to ensure there is strong awareness in relation to the referral pathway to access the service
  • To actively lead on promotion and advertisement of the stop smoking offer.
  • To work with individuals collaboratively to develop stop smoking plans (to reduce/stop smoking) empowering individuals in behaviour change.
  • To work closely with the local community, identifying local leaders, champions and advocates, to ensure citizens feedback is embedded in the ongoing review of the service.
  • Recruit volunteers in line with Bluesci Volunteering Program
  • To champion and adhere to processes and procedures to identify and strive for continuing improved quality throughout the individual's experience, together with robust data management.
  • Share knowledge and skills with others by mentoring, supervision and review.
  • Be compliant with all relevant policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Prioritise, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes high quality.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge and understanding of behaviour change principles, to facilitate, motivate and empower individuals to reduce or stop smoking.
  • Knowledge and experience of the values and principles underpinning person centred, recovery, social prescribing, and positive therapeutic relationships.
- knowledge and understanding of mental health and well-being.
