Description

The purpose of the role is:

  • To support College attendance, retention, and achievement strategies by providing high-quality pro-active support service to learners with learning support requirements.
  • To ensure that all learners receiving support achieve as well as their peers and develop independent learning skills.
  • To provide learning support contributing to an outstanding student experience from the start of their college journey to progression into further study, employment, or greater independence.
  • To work directly with Curriculum Staff, Personal Tutors, and other business support areas to ensure support proactively engages learners and meets their social, emotional, and learning needs.
  • To comply with relevant performance monitoring and evaluation systems across the department to ensure quality provision.

KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To provide high-quality learning support (through one-to-one and/or group work interventions) enabling learners to engage and achieve identified goals for progression.
  • To provide support for the delivery of Functional Skills, GCSE, and Vocational classes for learners in need of additional support.
  • To ensure learners with support needs are fully engaged and reinforce College attendance policies.
  • Support learners requiring personal physical care.
  • To assist in pre-entry activities such as recruitment, enrolment, and assessment of support needs.
  • To assist in the planning, implementation, and measurement of the impact of one-to-one and group work for continual service improvement.
  • To maintain accurate records of interventions and information, completing all administration promptly.
  • To contribute to negotiation, monitoring, and support of individual learning objectives.
  • To actively participate in the College's Quality System and CPD for teaching improvement.
  • To undertake duties as assigned commensurate with the post's purpose.
  • To support College policies on safeguarding, equality, diversity, and HR tasks within GDPR principles.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • To participate in the College's Performance Management Scheme and attend necessary training events.
  • To continually improve teaching, learning, and assessment through proactive CPD.
  • To participate in the College's Quality System and undertake assigned duties.
  • To take reasonable care for health and safety and actively support safeguarding, equality, diversity policies.
  • To operate HR tasks within GDPR principles.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

All successful applicants will undergo the following checks:

  • Enhanced DBS
  • 2 x References, one being your current or most recent employer
  • Qualification validation check

SALARY

The salary range for this post is from £20,182.00 to £20,925.00 per annum pro rata. Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience.

Incremental salary increase after probationary period.

HOURS OF WORK

Based on 30 hours per week for 36 weeks per year.

ANNUAL LEAVE

Term time appointment with payment in lieu of holiday in addition to the salary. Paid for Statutory Bank Holidays and concessionary days.

PENSION SCHEME

Operates the 'Local Government Pension Scheme'.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

Newly appointed staff serve a 6-month probationary period.
