8.00am - 3.30pm (half hour for lunch)

35 hours per week for 39 weeks per year (Term time plus 5 INSET Days)


Salary:
PASS 5 SCP - PASS 5 SCP 14 (pro rata)

£21,979 - £23,917 (ACTUAL)

We are recruiting for an Attendance/Family support officer.
This is an exciting role within Archbishop Beck College, reporting to the Student Support Manager.

The Family Support Officer will work with parents and carers to increase engagement in college life in a number of areas, from promoting communication between college and home to engagement with family support.

In particular, you will target those hard to reach families who may need specialist support. You will liaise with other agencies and signpost families to appropriate help.


You will work with families to improve student attendance and engagement with college and deliver one to one interventions with students to promote return to college.

You will also be responsible for intervention to support engagement with the college.


For the post advertised, you must:

Reporting to the Student Support Manager


Job Purpose

  • To work with students and their families to support attendance and provide effective advice and guidance.
  • To promote good attendance with all students.
  • To promote the college to outside agencies and encourage partnerships that benefit the students at Archbishop Beck Catholic College.

Key Responsibilities

To act as a facilitator, between the college and families, fostering good relationships between college and home. To improve attendance of all students, and particularly vulnerable students.

Support for students:

  • To be available for students to talk over issues which are impacting attendance.
  • To show pupils a positive relationship between home and college.
  • To monitor illness marks and patterns of illness; put support in place.

Support for college and parents

  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the college
  • Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals, liaison with the pastoral staff
  • Take the initiative as appropriate to develop multiagency approaches to supporting pupils.
  • Recognise own strengths and areas of specialist expertise and use these to lead, advise and support others.
  • Liaise with the safeguarding team when concerns arise.

Support for parents through home visits:

  • Undertake home visits for non-attending students.
  • Undertake safeguarding checks as directed by Student Support Manager.

Undertake any other duties requested within the scope of the role


Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Adhere to college safeguarding policy and ensure the safety of students at all times.

Information Management Responsibilities

  • Take reasonable care to ensure that personal sensitive data is managed in accordance with the college policies and procedures.
