Milk Education are working with a school in North Tyneside to hire a Learning Mentor that can provide support to pupils and tackle challenging behaviour.


You will be expected to establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the school, and to promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times.


Learning Mentor Core Responsibilities:

  • Mentor young people
  • Working collaboratively with the learning support team
  • Become a positive role model for the children
  • Provide discreet, one to one support or small group support to the learner/s
  • To be resilient and able to take regular responsibility for agreed learning
  • An ability to build strong, trusting relationships

As a Learning Mentor you will need:

  • Sensitivity and understanding
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm
  • Enjoy working with other people
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Creativity and versatility
