The job itself:


We are looking for a Care Worker to provide educational support during the summer holidays to an 11 year old boy with special needs.

This young person is non-verbal, but is very sociable and loves to be around people. He likes being outside, visiting new places and meeting new people. He enjoys being in the water, horse riding, trips to the cinema and eating spicy food. Special skills include blowing amazing raspberries and, since learning how to open doors, making a dramatic entrance


Duties


The role will involve being in sole charge of this young person's care and helping him to meet his educational goals at home and in the community.


This may involve accompanying him to therapy sessions, liaising with his therapy providers and helping to deliver his therapy programme at home.

Experience of, or willingness to be trained, in epilepsy management, gastrostomy care and administration of medication will be required. The job will involve all aspects of personal care, administration of medications and gastrostomy feeds and simple meal preparation.

A full driving licence is essential and a vehicle will be provided for accessing community activities.
