Under the leadership and management of the Team Manager the Advanced Practitioner will have case holding responsibility for a reduced caseload of the most complex cases and play a key role in supervising, developing and monitoring the competency of the Social Worker staff within the team.

The Advanced Practitioner will deputise for the Team Manager and therefore will have some management experience.


Your aim will be to support children living with relatives, family friends, foster families, or prospective adopters to secure their permanency and to ensure their holistic needs are met.

Through regular visits, assessments, permanency planning and case work, you will nurture and develop meaningful relationships with children; understand and interpret their wishes, complete high-quality direct work and life story work with children.

Unless the DBS requirement stated above is for a Basic Disclosure, your DBS must be either through us or be accompanied by a subscription to the DBS updating service.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in social work or equivalent social work qualification, e.g. Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work (PDDipSW) Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW), Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), Certificate in Social Services (CSS)
  • Current Social Work England Registration
  • Hold a current driving licence and have access to a car (social workers with a disability must have access to a means of mobility support)

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of a range of social work theories relevant to the role
  • Knowledge of the main social care services and resources provided by the statutory, voluntary and independent sector
  • Recognise harm and the risk indicators of different forms of harm to children

Experience:


  • Building effective relationships with children, young people and families
  • Production of focused, and jargon free written case notes and reports, supported by clear analysis and a sound rationale for actions
  • Working effectively with professionals from a diverse range of organisations
  • Using initiative to organise own workload
  • Using policies and procedures in social work practice
  • Using IT to support effective working
  • Application of legislation and national standards relevant to the role

Skills & Abilities:

  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to empower children, young people and their families in make long term positive changes for their future.
  • Ability to recognise own professional limitations and know how and when to seek advice
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
