Applications are invited for a senior academic to join the Interdisciplinary Research in Health Services (IRIHS) group to take a leading role in the Translational Health Sciences post-graduate programme and health and social care research undertaken by the group.

This is an attractive position in a thriving research group, combining teaching, research and scholarship.

It offers the successful applicant opportunities to contribute to the design and delivery of post-graduate research and teaching, and to build and conduct research on technology and digital innovation across health and social care.


The post holder will take a leading role in the Translational Health Sciences programme, including development and delivery of modules for the MSc programme and coordination of the associated DPhil programme.

With proven expertise in both health and social care - and taking a leading role on the later - they will progress new and ongoing research studies within the group.

This will include contributing to a new NIHR-funded rapid evaluation centre (a partnership across Oxford and RAND Europe) focused on technology-enabled remote care (e.g.

'virtual ward services' that aim to monitor, review and support care at home) and building up their own research in this field.


Responsibilities include generating income for new research, conducting theoretical and empirical work across health and social care, translation of research findings into policy and practice, delivery of two MSc modules and coordination of training and support for the 25-30 DPhil students hosted by the IRIHS group.

As a senior academic, the postholder will be a member of the IRIHS executive committee, bringing opportunities to input into the strategy of future direction of the group.

You will be a member of the Interdisciplinary Research in Health Sciences team (IRIHS) led by Professor Trish Greenhalgh and Professor Sara Shaw which is based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG

The position is funded for 3 years in the first instance.
