Permanent post

Are you an experienced HLTA looking for a new challenge? Do you have a proven track record of supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and have the confidence to deal with challenging behaviour and situations?

Bamburgh School is seeking to appoint an HTLA who will provide exceptional learning and behavioural support across school.

This new role involves working alongside teachers, therapists, and parents to help our children excel in their learning and personal development.

You will have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, be resilient in working with children with SEMH needs, and be passionate about helping our children achieve their full potential.

You must have an awareness of, and be sensitive to, the challenges facing children with SEMH behaviours and to promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.

You will:
- encourage children to develop their ability to manage their social, emotional and mental health needs, providing one to one behavioural support where needed.
- use appropriate strategies for de-escalation.
- establish good relationships with children, acting as a role model and being aware of, and responding appropriately to, individual needs.
- work closely with teachers, therapists and other staff to monitor the learning and personal development of children and identify effective support and learning strategies.

You will be expected to monitor the strategies you use in order to provide information to feed into the Education and Health Care Plans of the pupils with whom you work.

We are a school for pupils age 4-16 whose special needs cover a broad spectrum of medical, physical, social, emotional and moderate learning difficulties.

Further details about the post are available from Mrs Davina Smith, Office Manager or Mrs Lorraine Roeves, Business Manager on Visits to school are welcomed - please telephone the school to arrange.

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks.

Closing date:
Noon, 29 March 2023.

Date for interviews are to be confirmed.
