Description
Somerset Foundation Trust Forensic Services provides service for those in Somerset who experience mental health difficulties and are in contact with the criminal justice system or who present with significant risks to others.
Over time, the team has developed and now comprises a number of services including:- A Community Forensic Team providing Forensic advice and support to community mental health services.
- A Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCFT) who hold responsibility for Gatekeeping / admission avoidance into secure care and provide key working for patients within secure care setting across the South West Provider collaborative region.
- Ash Ward a low secure inpatient ward that is part of the South West Provider Collaborative.
- A Liaison and Diversion Service within police Custody
- Advice and Support in Custody and Court Service (ASCC)
- An OPD (Offenders with Personality Difficulties) service for the National Probation Service
- IIRMS 'Reach' service for the resettlement and support of offenders after custody
This post holder will hold overall responsibility for the above portfolio of services as well as forming constructive relationships with the commissioners of the services (including South West Provider Collaborative, Avon and Wiltshire Trust, Somerset ICB).
- To be responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of services and deliver quality and performance to the agreed contractual and Trust standards and meet the needs of the communities that are including within their portfolios.
- To ensure an integrated approach to governance and risk management within the services and to implement and maintain systems for accountability and performance management.
- Take an active role in the planning of future service developments identifying the resources and facilities to meet the needs of the service, including supporting the management and negotiation of contracts.
- Ensure Health and Safety requirements are met and embedded into the planning and decision making processes and culture of services.
- Effectively plan, communicate and implement strategic, service and organisational changes ensuring engagement and involvement.
- Provide a visible, accessible presence in areas which are undertaking transformation initiatives, whilst using high level facilitation skills to enable change.
