Hamble Early Years hours per week, Early Years Educator

Hamble Early Years Centre is an independent nursery owned and run by two Early Years Professionals. Due to increasing numbers we are excited to recruit a nursery practitioner to join our dynamic team. Someone who is ambitious, dedicated and has their own vision for excellence in childcare.

We are seeking someone to work term time only for between 20 and 40 hours per week. The position is based within our pre-school room.


As we know, working with children aged 0 - 5 years is never dull One session you will be constructing fairy houses in the woods and the next you will be creating some artisitic masterpiece.


We love exciting activities and are looking for an energetic, creative person who's not afraid to get their hands dirty.

Each day you will help set up and deliver activities and learning opportunities for the children. You will build warm relationships and help develop partnerships with parents.

We will train you to use our online learning journal to capture the special moments in a child's life along with their development, progress and next steps.


We have a loyal, friendly staff team, many of whom have attained higher childcare qualifications whilst working with us and we fully support continuous professional development.

Purpose of the job:

To work as a key worker and as part of the centre's team under the direction of the Manager and Deputy to provide safe, high quality education and care.


Main Duties:


  • To endeavour to be cheerful, warm and welcoming to children, parents and staff.
  • To work as part of a team to organise the nursery indoors and out at the start and end of each session.
  • To contribute to the short
- and medium-term planning of the curriculum.


  • To observe, carry out assess and record children's learning and the effectiveness of activities.
  • To act as a key worker to a small group of children liaising with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met.
  • To advise the Manager of any concerns e.g. regarding children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
  • To interact with children whilst offering an appropriate level of support stimulation and care.
  • To attend staff induction, meetings, in-service training courses and meetings as required.
  • To keep absolutely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is learnt as part of the job.
  • To undertake routine cleaning to ensure the environment is safe and hygienic recycling materials wherever possible.

Essential criteria:
Sense of humour

Flexible approach

Reliable and punctual

A recognised qualification in nursery practice (e.g. NVQ level 3) or willingness to undertake

Previous experience of working with young children

Good mental & physical health
