Sales Coordinator (Shipping) - Permanent - Birmingham


We are looking for an individual to work for a leading shipping company within their Birmingham office as a Sales Coordinator.

You will be assisting field sales to coordinate with internal departments and customers and ensure field sales are backed up and ready to the best extent.

Previous Shipping experience isn't required but would be advantageous.

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Inside Sales
  • To have regular verbal contact with potential and existing accounts in allocated sales area, in order to secure new/maintain existing business. Customer focal point when salesperson is away from the office.


  • Rates

  • Processing incoming rate requests from customers. Filing quotes & following up for bookings, as directed by sales. Filing SC and/or SQ requests & assisting sales with rate reviews. Notifying customers of any changes to services & surcharges.


  • Sales Leads

  • Followup all incoming sales leads & generate sales leads for overseas agents.


  • Market Information

  • Gathering information relating to local import/export trade through followup of sales leads, trade journals, papers, trade shows & personal contacts. Makes sure actions taken are following the Antitrust/competition law guidelines set out by the company.


  • Reports

  • Monitoring customer's performance. Monthly statistical reports for sales & manager.


  • E-Commerce / GreenX

  • Maintain and update when required.


  • Teamwork

  • Work closely with external sales to ensure that budgets/targets are met.


  • General

  • Assist salesperson in following up action points from meetings. Visit key accounts with sales as and when required, to further develop the working relationship.

For this position, you will need:

  • Legal right to work in UK
  • Must have a strong knowledge of Geography and Economics
  • Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office
  • Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • To be honest, responsible and to be able to work on your own initiative as well as to be a great team worker
  • GCSE Mathematics and English, higher qualifications are advantageous
