ABOUT US

We are a mission-driven brand that transforms the most harmful and abundant plastic in our ocean, ghost gear, into purposeful products built for adventure.

Eyewear is our keystone product focus and we're challenging the industry by setting the highest bar in the traceability of our raw materials, transparency of our manufacturing and quality of our product.

Alongside this, community is core to our mission; we aim to engage with people's connection with the ocean, and inspire them to protect it, by producing litter picking equipment to tackle the problem, made out of the problem itself.

Based in Newquay, since 2019 we have produced over 25,000 pairs of sunglasses and inspired over 30,000 members of our community to take direct action against plastic pollution themselves.

This is an exciting time for Waterhaul as we have just finished our first ever fundraising round and are looking to move into our next stage of growth, scale and impact.

We are passionate and hard-working individuals that reach our goals as a team.

We believe in a healthy work-life balance and we're looking for talented people who share our passion for spending time in and around the ocean and helping to protect it.

ABOUT YOU

It's all about our environmental and social impact, and we're at an incredibly exciting moment where we're now looking to build a team, starting with two brand new roles, to take our impact to new levels.

We're looking for a passionate and motivated project coordinator to get stuck in and carry out the day-to-day project work, as well as support the Impact Manager in the growth and strategic development of Waterhaul's Impact.

You will be a fantastic implementer and be exceptional at administrative tasks, such as organising and logging datasets, whilst also being comfortable doing manual hands-on work on a daily basis.

As this role is unprecedented for us, much of the scope of this role will be developed within the first few months with you and the Impact Manager, therefore we're looking for a pro-active, pragmatic and hard-working individual to help us implement the strategy.

Working pattern is completely flexible as our teams' working hours revolve around the sun, surf and our hobbies. Work will be based both at our office in Newquay and our recycling unit in Victoria.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting and facilitating the recovery of fishing gear across our existing recovery network. This includes assisting organising net collections and team expeditions around the coastline, as well as port and harbour collections of endoflife gear.
  • Assisting the expansion of our recovery network to grow our impact across the UK and internationally.
  • Coordinating and carrying out our entire recycling process. We do smallscale inhouse batch recycling of fishing gear, which entails sorting by polymer type and grade, shredding, washing, and pelletising the plastic ready for use in our products. Also, coordinating logistics of largescale batch recycling with our recycling partners.
  • Administrative tasks; such as organising and logging material batches and data management.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of a wide range of impactrelated projects; including our Rescue to Recycle and Education programmes.
  • Leading adhoc parttime/voluntary workers.
  • Organising and joining the team on adhoc beach cleans and ghost gear recovery missions.
  • Attending public events, such as trade shows, sales events and partnership launches.
  • Working with the Impact Manager and our marketing team to communicate and share our impact

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Excellent communication skills and confident talking to stakeholders and supporting events involving members of the public. Confident talking to camera and working with our marketing team to communicate our impact.
  • Ability to educate a wide variety of groups, such as schools, businesses, fishers and local communities about a range of topics, including recycling processes, circular economy, ghost gear and Waterhaul's work (with training).
  • Proven track record of work at a project administrator/officer level; demonstrating exceptional organisational, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Experience in administrative duties and operational logistics.
  • This role will be building on the foundations we have laid for the growth of Waterhaul's Impact; therefore, a lot of the work is unprecedented. We need a selfmotivated, driven individual who works on their own initiative to take it to the next level.
  • Passionate about protecting the marine environment and enjoy being in and around the ocean.
  • Although nature of work will vary fr
