Laboratory Team Lead - Clinical Research

Permanent Position

£40,000 to £45,000 annually

Based in Central London
Are you a Virologist, Immunologist or Biomedical Scientist with experience in Laboratory Leadership and People Management?

Would you like to work for a leading London based clinical research organisation with a strong pipeline of clinical and laboratory projects?

My client are a leading clinical and laboratory service provider, specialising in a range of therapeutic areas and with the patient at the heart of their research.

Using their specialist clinical trial platform, they play a key role in drug and vaccine developmentand are currently experiencing an impressive period of growth so are investing heavily in their state of the art clinical and laboratory facilities in Central London.

As a result, they are looking to expand their laboratory team, through bringing on boarda Laboratory Team Lead - Clinical Research who will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the GCP accredited laboratory and associated projects, including the scheduling and training lab team members.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading clinical research organisation within a team of knowledgeable and motivated scientists driving forward the testing of infectious and respiratory disease products in drug discovery and development.

Key Responsibilities of the
Laboratory Team Lead - Clinical Research will include;

Oversee laboratory projects through managing staff work schedules and laboratory & equipment coordination in line with study requirements.
Supervise and support the GCP laboratory team, ensuring laboratory team members are trained in relevant scientific techniques and lab practices.
Review and update laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures (SOP's) on an ongoing basis.
Ensure laboratory compliance to Good Clinical Practice (GCP / GCLP) and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Participate in Laboratory Health and Safety compliance, proactively reviewing risk assessments and associated documentation.
Initiate and lead process improvement activities within the laboratory.
Establish competency requirements, development plans and performance objectives for staff.
Provide handson scientific knowledge and expertise to laboratory team members as required e.g. training / protocol changes.

To be considered for this
Laboratory Team Lead - Clinical Research vacancy you will need the following skills and experience;

BSc / MSc / PhD in Life Sciences (Biochemistry, Virology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Infectious Disease etc.) or equivalent working experience.
Demonstrable experience working within a regulated industry laboratory, preferably accredited to GCP, GLP, GxP, UKAS, ISO etc.
Experience of Laboratory Leadership, including demonstratable experience in line or matrix management.
Awareness of ICH-GCP and associated regulatory standards.
Previous experience working within a CRO / clinical laboratory environment is highly preferable.
Handson experience with viral, immunology, molecular or cellular techniques e.g. Plaque assay, infectivity assay, neutralization assay, PCR, qPCR, rtPCR, cell culture, ELISPOT, ELISA & Cytokine Biomarker analysis.
Excellent communication skills and a personable nature, to support relationship building within the lab team and cross functionally within the organisation.
A proactive nature, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure lab projects and team workload are managed appropriately.
