Reports to:
Managing Director and working closely with the outsourced Finance Director. Works closely with the Senior Management Team.
Hours:
Full time, normally Monday to Friday but with some weekend working to provide senior management cover for the site.
Principal purpose of role- Lead the day-to-day operation of the Finance team, processes and systems to ensure compliance and to provide an effective, professional and co-ordinated service to Heligan and other group companies (one trading and two holding).
- Provide management information, management accounts and year end procedures on a timely and regular basis.
- As a member of the Senior Management Team to (jointly) lead on the execution of our strategic objectives across the business.
Day-to-day operation and people management
- Management of all Finance staff to ensure a high performing team.
- Oversee the payroll function, purchase ledger and credit control.
- Preparation of VAT returns.
Management information
- Preparing the HGL annual budget and provide regular forecasting.
- Provide effective and robust governance and control ensuring that appropriate controls and financial risk management practices are in place and operating effectively.
- Prepare accurate, consistent and timely management accounts and reports, which includes accruals & prepayments, adjustments, variance analysis and commentary preparation, in accordance with requirements.
- Provide regular cashflow information including long range forecasts,
- To provide analytical support (e.g. financial statistics, costing, analysis) to the budget owners, to enable the production and review of scenarios, sensitivity analyses, cost improvement plans, business cases and service development propositions.
- Provide and effectively communicate, accurate, timely and insightful information, analysis and recommendations that inform business performance and support and challenge decisionmaking.
- Working closely with the senior team and the FD to develop the financial plan to support the business in achieving its corporate strategy
Financial Accounting
- Maintenance and regular reconciliation of the balance sheet.
- Preparation of the draft year end accounts including working papers/backing schedules.
- Liaise with the auditors and provide all information as requested.
Other
- Completion of Office of National Statistics/other statistical returns.
- Responsibility for annual insurance renewal and any in year changes.
- On a rotational basis provide senior manager support to the Duty Manager/other staff. Includes securing the site at the end of the day.
- Ensure the security of cash handling and other assets at all times.
- Ensuring all departmental staff are trained to the required standard and records maintained.

Education, vocational training and qualifications
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
Experience
At least 3 years substantial management experience of a finance team
Track record of delivering management information and performance targets
Preparation of year end accounts and associated working papers
Preparation of year end working papers for audit and liaison with auditors
Cashflow Management
Experience of working in the tourism/leisure/hospitality industry
Technical skills and abilities
Excellent communicator
Passion for accuracy and detail, with the ability to explain them in layman's terms
Project management skills and experience
Strong management skills to develop a strong team capable of working in unison
Strong commercial acumen
