About the role

As a Junior Design Estimator with CDS you will be using your design & estimating skills supporting our clients with their project requirements.

Working with M&E contractors and end users, you will be able to realise your creative potential and work on providing your customers with compliant and cost-effective solutions to win the works.

This is an office-based role to accommodate your training and development needs.

You'll report to our senior design estimators and work with a close-knit Team of fellow designers, sales and project managers.

This is a newly created role in a forward thinking, ambitious business so the opportunities to progress and develop are vast.

What you'll be doing
As a
Fire and security Design/ Estimator, you will have the following accountabilities:

Undertake the role of junior design /Estimator on projects working alongside your mentors to complete the estimating function on assigned tenders
Assisting the sales team to with the bid process to ensure that tender deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner
Assist senior colleagues to interrogate design options and value solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles.
Assist colleagues to review customers drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment
Work with the team to review tender documents and submission requirements, ensuring all financial information is identified and provided and accurate compliant design proposals are included
Establish and agree key plant costs where required
Coordinate the preparation of preliminary and general expense pricing, including plant and QHSE requirements with the team
Provide audit trails of cost allowances as part of the commercial handover meeting to the projects team
Ensure that key specialists are utilised on each bid to optimise design, specification, programme and value
Assist with managing the production of cost information and tender submissions for senior management
Provide considered responses to customer questions including post tender queries
Ensure that cost planning and estimating are accurate and reflect the project requirements and risk profile

Who we're looking for

Requirements:

Experience in the field of Fire life safety design and estimating role would be beneficial.
Experience in designing and estimating security projects would be beneficial
Industry product knowledge would be beneficial
Strong communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal
Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fastpaced environment
An understanding of the estimating requirements / variables would be beneficial
Attention to detail
Fast learner with the ability to digest information and utilise newly acquired skills
Be a team player
