Role Summary
With clear guidance provides an efficient and proactive basic administration service to clients of the Third Party Administration (TPA) practice.
Accountabilities:
Pension Administration
- Under guidance from a more senior colleague, maintains and updates member records on the system.
- Processes member events including Retirements, Deaths, Early leavers, Transfers In, Transfers Out and Illustrative quotations, under supervision by a more experienced member of the team.
- Carries out basic calculations and payments of benefits under guidance from a senior colleague.
- Assists the pensions administrator in maintaining the scheme cash books to the standard required by the TPA Financial Manager.
- Assists with the reconciliation of bank statements immediately after receipt.
- Responds to individual enquiries from members, clients and other third parties, in accordance with target standards of performance.
- Assists with the production of reports from the database, as required.
- Assist with client specific project work such as preparation of benefit statements.
- Ensures office procedures are followed, including keeping full notes of all telephone conversations and to be aware of compliance requirements.
- Carries out other tasks and adhoc projects as may reasonably be expected to be carried out by a trainee administrator.
- Adheres to the firm's Information Security standards, policies and procedures
Qualifications, Skills, Experience
Qualifications:
- Educated to a minimum 'A' level standard, or equivalent, or has relevant experience. Minimum GCSE / Scottish standard (or equivalent) Maths and English at Grade B, or equivalent.
- Working towards a relevant professional qualification, such as Associate Membership to the Pension Management Institute, or relevant industry experience.
Skills / Experience:
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good planning and organisational skills and able to juggle multiple tasks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
- A strong team worker and works collaboratively with others.
- Experience of using Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.
- Some experience in client care or customer services, including the ability to liaise with clients effectively and confidently over the telephone.
- May already have some experience of basic daytoday pension administration of either Defined Benefit or Defined Contribution pensions schemes, or both.
