About the Employer
I am the employer and mother of my son who is diagnosed with a rare brain disorder, mild learning disability and hypertonia

  • He requires support when at home and when accessing activities in the community. My son requires some support and prompt with personal care and occasional support with bathing may be requested/required if support is within the home, however is a generally quite independent and able with most things. I am seeking a PA to support and encourage my son in accessing activities and hobbies of choice in the community and generally offering companionship and keeping him entertained for the hours available. My son lives at home with myself and his younger brother with similar disabilities. He too has a direct payment so may wish to be involved with his PA in some activities or may be present if the support occurs within the household. The PA role is to offer friendship and encourage leisure pursuits to enable his independence, promote self esteem and confidence and allow me a break from my caring role. My son is easy going, a very laid back and sociable character who enjoys the company of others

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
  • Support to get to and from school/work/college/social activities.
  • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
  • Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
  • Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
  • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.


Transport Requirement
Car driver and car owner - must have business insurance.

  • To be able to work on own initiative.
  • To be able to follow instructions accurately.

  • Be empathetic.
  • Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
  • Be able to work flexibly, adapting to the employers needs on a daily basis.
  • Flexibility would be an advantage as the hours may be variable.
  • Be selfmotivated with a willingness to get involved.
  • Have a lively personality.

Other skills include:
Someone who is proactive and willing to get involved in activities. Someone who is able to identify new experiences and encourage my son to try new things


Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 12 per week
