Report to:
Disability & Inclusion Manager


Location:

Offices based at Ashton Gate Stadium however programme engagement and delivery can be spread throughout Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.


Other:
Full driving license required and must have access to a vehicle.

Hours:

This is a sessional role, and the number of hours are flexible, and to be negotiated as per the applicant's availability and experience.

(Minimum 3 hours per week - Maximum 12 hours per week).

Sessional Rate:
Competitive. Sessional rate per hour or Half/full Day rate as appropriate to timetabled hours for the applicant.


Purpose:
Bristol Bears Community Foundation (BBCF) wishes to appoint an Inclusive

Community Coach to support the development and implementation of provision across a range of older people settings, engaging adults aged 55+ in sport and physical activity within a team that also delivers in to SEND settings.


Responsibilities:


  • To deliver highquality specialist programmes to service users with a range of additional needs including (but not limited to):
  • Adults with age-related illness or impairment. Individuals effected by loneliness, social isolation, depression and dementia.
  • To support and manage relationships with partner and community organisations ensuring regular and clear communication is maintained.
  • To provide a safe and accessible environment through personcentered delivery.
  • To provide opportunities maximising enjoyment, participation and whole person development.
  • To undertake the necessary planning for each session to ensure that their delivery is underpinned by the appropriate differentiation required to best meet the needs of each user group.
  • To ensure their coaching demonstrates progression and purpose throughout and is in line inclusive best practice.
  • To ensure all equipment required for each coaching session is present, correctly set up, maintained, and stored safely when not in use.
  • To implement appropriate Health and Safety policies and procedures in line with
BBCF guidelines, National Governing Body guidelines and each school/centre/club's own policies.

  • To provide support and guidance to other staff members and volunteers as appropriate.
  • To monitor and evaluate sessions to improve the quality of all programmes.
  • To directly support the meeting, monitoring and evaluation of Key Performance
Indicators (KPIs) relating to associated programming.

  • To communicate regularly and provide progress updates to the BBCF Disability &
Inclusion Lead and Community Development Manager.

  • To take responsibility for their own continuous professional development to improve their coaching delivery, including engaging with and learning from all coaches delivering within BBCF.

Supervision and Work Planning:

The Community Inclusion Coach (CIC) will be employed by Bristol Bears Community
Foundation (BBCF). The CIC will work predominantly in the Greater Bristol area and will be based at Ashton Gate Stadium.


Although most of the working week will take place between the hours of 9am and 5pm, there will be identified community sessions between the hours of 5pm and 9pm on a weekly basis as well as periodic programme events at weekends.

It is critical that the CIC is committed to and able to work weekend and evening hours to meet the needs of our programmes.

Person Specification:


Experience
Essential

  • A minimum of 2 years sports coaching/teaching experience in a paid or voluntary capacity, within an education or community environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working with or supporting older people or individuals with special educational needs/learning difficulties, physical disabilities and/or identified additional needs.

Desirable

  • Direct experience of coaching/teaching programmes to meet specific physical, social or communication needs of individuals with special educational needs/learning difficulties, physical disabilities and/or identified additional needs.
  • Direct experience of coaching team sports to individuals with special educational needs/learning difficulties, physical disabilities and/or identified additional needs.
  • A basic understanding of dementia or experience of working/caring for someone with a cognitive impairment.
