This role will work across teams and foster a culture of change and continuous improvement.

The Head of Quality and Improvement will be a catalyst for change and will work with Sheffcare Exec and Managers to ensure that our staff are inspired, confident and supported to deliver the absolute best person-centered care for older people and people living with dementia.

As part of the Sheffcare management team you will be a champion for our values and leadership charter and they will underpin your work.


JOB PURPOSE

  • To embed the comprehensive Quality Assurance framework, sharing accountability for care outcomes with Registered Managers and their teams to ensure Sheffcare is recognised as a leading provider of high quality and safe care and support.
  • To collaborate effectively with colleagues to embed outstanding practice in the key disciplines of quality, compliance and continuous improvement across all Sheffcare homes and services by introducing tools and procedures that support and enable colleagues to take ownership of continuous improvement.
  • To lead the drive for truly personcentred care ensuring regulatory and CQC standards are met and exceeded in all Sheffcare services.
  • To be fully aware and informed of all aspects of current and new legislation, regulations and standards related to health and social care and ensure that this is communicated and embedded across the charity.
  • The ability to horizon scan and have a good understanding of actual and potential/pending risk.
  • Understand and interpret data to provide Sheffcare with opportunities to inform change and development.

Quality and compliance

  • Work with the Director of Quality & Care to ensure that Sheffcare complies with CQC standards, developing and ensuring the implementation of any action plans necessary to address recommendations following inspections.
  • Ensure that Sheffcare has a program of regular and robust audits and mock inspections, both planned and unannounced.
  • Ensure that Sheffcare has an effective incident and near miss management system in place and ensure staff are trained, supported and competent in its use.
  • Complete the monthly QA Board report, detailing current serious incidents and complaints and serious concerns, and highlighting business risk. Present regular reports to the Board and Exec team.

Investigations and complaints

  • To lead on internal investigations and complaints, identifying trends and embedding solutions and learning.
  • To act as Disciplinary Hearing / Appeals Officer as required.
  • Complete monthly analysis of incidents and complaints, highlighting trends and risks, and making recommendations for continuous improvement.

PCS (Person Centered Software)

  • Ensure all managers and staff are trained and supported to use PCS effectively.
  • Analyse data from PCS to ensure quality and standards across all Sheffcare homes and services.
  • Analyse internal incident data to highlight trends and produce action plans for the Exec around any specific trends, specifically highlighting how to reduce these.
  • Produce accurate data reports for the Exec Team, Quality Committee and Board.

Other

  • Deputise for the Director of Quality & Care.
  • Liaise with the Director of HR regarding education and training needs which arise from audit and compliance processes and ensure training and development needs are identified, sourced and learning embedded and monitored.
  • Ensure Sheffcare is compliant in Equality and Inclusion legislation, with relevant policies and procedures ensuring practice meets these at all times.
  • Some out of hours work will be require required for audits, unannounced visits and spot checks.
  • Provide oncall support as part of a rota

Salary:
£45,000.00-£48,000.00 per year


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
