Description

Building Surveyor - South West Norse

South West Norse is delighted to be able to recruit a new Building Surveyor to carry out asset condition surveys.

Having secured the renewal of our Joint Venture contract with our primary client, Devon County Council, and rapidly becoming the 'go to' consultant for many Academy Trusts and other clients, we have a strong forward order book for cyclical building fabric condition surveys.

South West Norse adopts modern working practices.

We have a refreshed and modern open plan office on the outskirts of Exeter with very good access off the M5 corridor making for an easy commute.

Equally we employ an agile and flexible working strategy allowing staff to work some days at home and flex their working patterns to accommodate such things as your children's sports days

The role:

Asset condition surveys are becoming an ever increasingly important source of data for our clients.

They not only help to inform Planned Preventative Maintenance Programmes but they are also often used by clients to draw down essential funding from Central Government to finance much needed repairs, maintenance and improvements.

The type and range of property to be surveyed is varied and includes corporate buildings, highway depots, schools, libraries, let tenanted farms, etc.

At a time of significant growth potential we are ideally looking for a Chartered (MRICS) Building Surveyor or someone who is looking to work towards becoming Chartered.

We have a good track record of supporting staff to attain industry recognised qualifications and memberships, as well as giving them the chance to continuously take on new projects in a commercial environment, rewarding staff for their progression.

We have group wide support mechanisms for someone who is looking to work towards becoming a Chartered (MRICS) Building Surveyor.

As a multi disciplinary property consultancy working on a wide variety of public sector and commercial projects, we can offer support in bridging any gaps in experience required for the APC's.

You will demonstrate your suitability through:

  • Ideally, you will hold (or be working towards) a Professional Chartered Membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), however we would be very keen to support someone through this process, so this is not essential
  • Experience in building fabric stock condition surveying and ideally experience of using the Department for education Condition Data Collection grading system, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the Building Regulations, Health & Safety and other relevant construction and building surveying related legislation
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate with all levels of internal and external parties.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal support or within a large multidisciplinary team

_Please read the attached job description and person specification to ensure you meet the criteria for the role before applying._
**_ We are committed to employment practices and behaviours which encourage diversity, promote equality of treatment and eliminate unlawful and or unfair discrimination._
