The ACCA Policy and Insights' Sustainable Business Portfolio is responsible for influencing external developments relevant to the accountancy profession, business and regulatory environment.

The post holder will develop and deliver policy and research insights pertaining to audit, assurance and ethics, ensuring that ACCA also best serves its public interest remit.


The Job

  • To generate in collaboration with highquality research content focused on ethics, audit and/or assurance which can be tailored for communication to ACCA's internal and external audiences.
  • To influence key external stakeholders, in particular national and international policymakers, in the development of audit, assurance and ethicsrelated policies for the public good, for example, as a member of the relevant Accountancy Europe groups or through engagements with International Audit and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), and the UK Financial Reporting Council (FRC)
  • To develop and represent ACCA's response to global impact consultations from regulators, standardsetters and intergovernmental organisations.
  • To prepare and support ACCA's senior leadership, market relationship teams and other ACCA external representative spokespeople in their engagements relating to Ethics, Audit and Assurance.
  • To lead the delivery of ACCA Global Forum for Ethics and support the delivery of ACCA Audit and Assurance Global Forums.
  • To contribute to the management and growth of ACCA's network of influential contacts to deliver ACCA's strategic objectives in leading the accountancy profession globally.
  • To advise the ACCA Strategy team on the development and continual improvement of ACCA's own integrated report and its assurance.
  • To champion the ACCA Policy and Insights plan internally and externally.
  • To be a role model for the ACCA Behaviours.

The Person

  • Demonstrable experience in an appropriate field of professional, academic or business activity, including practical audit experience.
  • Very goodknowledge and ideally experience in global ethicsrelated topics.
  • Awareness of key international developments in sustainability assurance and ethics.
  • Evidence of a growing network and profile in key communities within the Sustainable Business Portfolio environment.
  • Track record of content generation, delivery and impact.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • A creative and professional approach to work.
  • Qualified member of an IFAC recognised professional body, in a discipline relevant to the Portfolio.
  • Flexible and versatile to adjust and adapt to an evolving policy and insights agenda delivering within a dynamic business environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues within policy and insights and across ACCA, and external contacts globally.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate/escalate key risks, particularly reputational risk.
  • Strong influencing skills

Additional Information

  • Involves flexible working hours or overtime (including occasional evening and weekend working) depending on activities undertaken.
  • Occasional travel is required for this role including overnight stays away from home.
