Description
We are looking to recruit Multi Skilled Operators to work at our site in Burnley.


The purpose of the role is to support the manufacturing operations in a variety of areas across the site as required by the business.

There will be an initial focus in either the lamination, slitting or print department.

The role is required to operate on a full weekly rotating shift system working:

  • 6am
  • 2pm
  • 2pm
- 10pm

  • 10pm 6am
Full training will be provided.


Principle Accountabilities - Slitting

  • To operate high speed Slitting Machinery in accordance with the conversion of flexible packaging.
  • To carry out basic maintenance to the machine. i.e., lubrication, cleandowns, etc
  • To challenge machine low run hours, speeds, waste levels, set ups, etc.
  • To carry out quality inspections and administration in line with customer specifications and standards.
  • To liaise with the Shift Manager to ensure that Engineering breakdowns are reported and
- fixed quickly considering priorities at all times.

  • To ensure all machines have enough material in order to maximise machine uptime.
  • To ensure all paperwork is kept up to date
  • To ensure all labelling is correct and wrapping is kept up to date.
  • To set and maintain high standards of Hygiene and Housekeeping at all times.
  • To enforce and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Principle Accountabilities - Lamination

  • To set up and operate the laminator machine to meet customer specifications and quality standards, in the most efficient way possible.
  • Ensure that the workplace is tidy, clean, orderly, and according to 5s standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement by observing waste reduction opportunities and acting on them when applicable
  • Provide break cover to increase department overall performance
  • Set up and operate a variety of machinery and ancillary equipment
  • Monitor and maintain product specifications carrying out online adjustments as required
  • Accurately complete all production paperwork in a timely manner
  • Carry out quality tests and measurements and implement required corrective actions
  • Participate in hygiene and other audits
  • Assisting with machine changeovers
  • Assisting with day to day workplace organisation, planning, machine optimisation.

Principle Accountabilities - Print

  • To ensure all ink returns are taken from the shop floor as soon as is practically possible.
  • To oversee the print machine if the Printer is away from the press for any reason.
  • Where possible, to check the print quality being produced.
  • To assist the Printer with machine changeovers.
  • To ensure that machine is supplied with film at all times.
  • To remove all printed film from the machine ensuring that it is palletised and banded each time.
  • To ensure that all viscosity tanks are supplied with solvent.
  • To ensure that all machine solvent cans are adequately stocked.
  • To remove and dispose of all setup reels.
  • To ensure that the print machine has a sufficient supply of cores.
  • Work as a team to ensure machine is left in a clean and safe manner for the opposite shift.

Flexibility

  • The jobholder may be required at any time to perform any reasonable task outside the general provision of this job description including supporting other departments where required.
  • At certain times the company may require the individual to work a reasonable amount of overtime to satisfy customer requirements.

  • Good attendance and timekeeping
  • Knowledge of flexographic printing process (desirable)
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Good organisational and selfmotivational skills
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail

Salary:
£27,048.00 per year
