Job overview


To work closely with the Outpatient/Day Therapy Sister and members of the team to provide an efficient and effective administration support service within Outpatients and Day Therapy at Hayward House Specialist Palliative Care Unit.

To be responsible for arranging transport, retrieving and tracking notes within the Department.

Other duties include making outpatient appointments and collecting and delivering samples to pathology and prescriptions and drugs to and from pharmacy.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the provision of an efficient and smooth running transport service for patients attending Outpatient and Day Therapy. Liaising with the staff, ambulance transport and patients in aspects of patient attendance and transport.

Welcome patients attending Outpatients Department,


Act as a point of reference to enquiries made to Outpatients and Day Therapy in person or by telephone, as required by the Sister in Day Therapy.

Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and members of the multi-professional team, maintaining clear communication channels. Receive handover instructions from the Outpatient and Day Therapy nursing and medical staff.


Ensure that confidentiality of all information pertaining to patient care and the ward is maintained at all times, in line with the Trust Policies.

Recording daily statistics, patient level data and reconciling all statistics. Producing Excel spreadsheets and preparing reports for the Clinical Commissioning groups.

General office duties including typing, faxing, photocopying and ordering of stationary supplies. Using the hospital ICT systems attend and outcome patients visits to the unit


Ensure that patients are helped to maintain their individuality, privacy and dignity at all times, taking into consideration emotional needs.

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
