Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated Health Care Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. Brookvale Practice is a well-established, high achieving, training practice with a current list size of 8,900 patients.

Our clinical team consists of 9 GP's, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Trainee Nurse Associate, and a Clinical Pharmacist.

The practice is based in a large, purpose-built Health Centre.


Applicants must be able to work as part of a team as well as under their own initiative to support the practice team in the delivery of clinical and administrative services and have excellent organisational and communication skills.

We fully support and encourage training and professional development.

We use Emis, Docman, and AccuRX


Hours are negotiable within the practice opening times of 7am to 6.30pm but will include one late clinic per week until 6.30pm.

Salary will be dependent on experience and skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION - HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT

Job Summary - Working under the direct supervision of the Nurse Clinician and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guideline and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • New patient health checks
  • ECG's
  • 24 hour ambulatory monitoring
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Phlebotomy
  • Chlamydia tests
  • Urine / specimens
  • BM's
  • Health checks/wellman/woman (no physical examinations)
  • Health Trainers/ Wellbeing referrals
  • Influenza vaccination
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Measuring and weighing infants
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well
- being

  • Undertaking specific clinic activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and wellbeing and how it can be promoted.

  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
