Are you an experienced Data Governance Professional looking to make the next step in your career? Then look no further as this could be the opportunity for you

A London University that I am working with are currently looking for a Head of Data Governance to join their Strategic Development and Delivery Team.

In 2018, the University rolled out a 10 year strategic plan named 'Vision 2028' with the main goal being to advance industry 5.0 careers-first education and provide a clear path to the jobs and opportunities of the future.

The work to achieve Vision 2028 requires not only positive change, but also a strong infrastructure to provide the tools and capabilities required to enable the vision to be realised.

This role plays a pivotal role in developing and embedding structure and good practice in the way that the University manages data as an asset.

It will have primary responsibility for the development and operation of the Data Governance Framework within the institution, working with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that the framework remains fit for purpose.

Some of the Key Responsibilities of the role involve;

  • Acting as the operational lead for the University's Data Governance Framework
  • Acting as the responsible officer for the tools and products established to track data quality and data management activities
  • Holding and managing the framework for responding to issues identified within institutional data
  • To support and advise project and change initiatives to ensure that they are optimising the regulatory framework in which they operate
  • Act as the data quality ambassador to create a culture of data integrity throughout the organisation
  • Working with stakeholders to develop and implement a Data Governance Framework, ensuring it remains fit for purpose
  • Ensuring a suite of data governance tools are available which can track data quality and management activities to meet the needs of stakeholders
  • Working across the data landscape to ensure that data governance roles are identified and filled, including providing training
  • To be a champion for data quality and monitor as appropriate
  • Providing training to the wider data community to develop good practise, including context and information on the wider data landscape and onward uses of data
  • Supporting the Data and Information Governance Management Group in its oversight of data quality and management, leading on the reporting of data quality issues, advising the Group on risks and priorities to inform its decisionmaking, and servicing the Group's meetings
  • Provide critical input to the design and implementation of a rolling programme of process and system enhancements aligned to the University's data reporting priorities and requirements, and manage the monitoring and reporting of that programme of changes
