We are looking for a highly motivated team player to join our Housing Options Team.


The Housing Options Team are
responsible for preventing and relieving homelessness under the Homelessness reduction Action 2017 and as well as managing the Council's Housing Register.


In this role you will be responsible for reaching out and engaging with rough sleepers in the borough and then working with them to secure short and medium term housing.


This is a dynamic, varied and rewarding role where you will have the opportunity to be the first point contact with rough sleepers through to determining the Council's statutory homeless duties.

You will also work with our Rough Sleeper Support Officer to help clients turn their lives around, engage with other support services and make a fresh start.


Your experience of working in housing, social care or health sectors will give you the foundation to remain calm under pressure, while delivering the highest levels of customer service.


You will have a good understanding of the causes and impacts of homelessness and ideally a working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

You will have excellent IT skills and be able to keep accurate records and meet deadlines.


We are looking for someone who will provide excellent customer care and be sensitive to customer needs but still ask searching questions when necessary.


Given the nature of the role, you will need to be able to work flexibly and this can sometimes include outside of usual Office hours e.g.

early morning or early evenings (but not weekends).

The role is Hybrid, involving visits around the borough (and sometimes outside of the borough), working from home and in the Office.


The post holder will have a valid driving licence and a vehicle available for work purposes for which mileage costs will be paid.
