Thanks to an internal promotion, Motive are now looking to hire a Workshop Chargehand, as part of our Certification & Inspection team, to be based from our site in Kintore, Aberdeenshire.


The Workshop Chargehand will provide operational support to Motive Certification and Inspection to ensure smooth transition and running of active jobs and verify that all tasks are completed as per the Work in Progress list.


You will ensure effective running of the Workshop and Yard, while providing guidance & leadership to team members, this role will support to the Workshop Supervisor and will ensure mobilisations and demobilisations are undertaken within the allocated schedule and ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant Health, Safety and Quality guidelines.

Reporting into Steve, our Workshop, you'll be working alongside a team that covers off the technical aspects of projects offshore and all over the world, along with a dedicated team behind the scenes who make sure the operations of this department run smoothly, safely and with a smile.

Responsibilities:


  • Adopting the Motive Offshore Group People Values and ensuring their use is embedded throughout daytoday tasks and decision making.
  • Carry out pre and post shift toolbox talks.
  • Delegate for the Workshop Supervisor, as required.
  • Lead, coach and mentor workshop team members including trainees, when required.
  • Carry out maintenance of equipment.
  • Carry out forklift operations as & when required.
  • Ensure proper off hire of returned equipment; ensure stocktake of equipment on arrival at worksite, communicating any anomalies and or damage to the Operations Team.
  • Ensure proper assignment of equipment at worksite and perform works as per the clients' requirements, completing all necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain communication with Workshop Supervisor with regards to the schedule of mobilisations and demobilisations
  • Attend operational meetings as required.
  • Liaise with Operations Team to confirm project deliverables.
  • Ensure all equipment certification, documentation is complete prior to equipment leaving site.
  • Liaise and build rapport with the client whilst at the worksite.
  • Complete required onsite paperwork such as post installation checks & maintenance records.
  • Ensure Workshop & Yard are stocked, and tools are in good condition. Anything below par should be reported to the Operations Team for replacement.
  • Adhere to & deliver the 6S safety principles.
  • Communicate with other departments within the operations.
  • Carry out critical offshore / offsite scopes.
  • Develop strong working relations with key stakeholders clients, colleagues
  • To be a positive ambassador for Motive Offshore Group Ltd.

Required skills / knowledge:


  • Similar experience of managing operations within a busy mechanical and/or engineering based workshop.
  • Experience in a wire rope inspection and inspection operations, with an understanding of MRT and LEEA, would be preferred.
  • Proven Forklift experience with B
  • B3, Counterbalance Forklift Truck Operator level desired if possible, or a willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in leading, coaching & developing team members.
  • The ability to influence and communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organisation.
  • Strong organisation skills.
  • Good judgement and decisionmaking skills.
  • Ability to understand converse with the technical requirements of the task in hand.
  • Have an ability to deal with fast moving projects.
