We work in partnership with Northamptonshire Health Foundation Trust and other Mental Health providers to support the mental health community through service provision, campaigning and influencing.


We are local leaders in developing innovative services that support people with mental health illness and together with our partners in the Mental Health Northants Collaboration, we are leading the way in redesigning and providing Mental Health services.

We also provide education and learning opportunities for people completing professional qualifications in Social Care, Counselling and Psychotherapy.

We have an opportunity for a Mental Health Navigator who shares our values, someone who has integrity, is compassionate and person-centred, dedicated and inclusive to join our amazing team.

The Mental Health Navigator role is a collaborative service delivered in partnership with Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT).

The service forms part of the countywide Integrated Mental Health hub (IRH), which provides a single point of access to mental health services across the county.

The mental health hub provides telephone-based support.

The Navigators also spend part of their time working in the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) supporting people on a one to one, face to face basis.


As a Mental Health Navigator, you will provide a service listening to individuals and for those ready to engage in support for their mental health needs and concerns, actively support behaviour change, signpost and link individuals to appropriate support services.


Working hours and location
The role is working between the IRH and the local CMHT teams that are currently located throughout the County.


The business operates 7 days per week, 8am to 8pm in the Integrated Response Hub (IRH) based in Rushden, however this role is for 37 hours per week over 5 days includes working 1 weekend in 4 & some late nights working until 8pm.

You may have to work some bank holidays which will be given back as time in lieu.

The role is also community-based working with the local CMHT teams that are currently located throughout the County.

The hours in CMHT are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

Currently the rotation is 2 weeks working in the IRH & 2 weeks in the community.


About you

Experience and skills:

  • To have a positive attitude towards people with mental health issues
  • Demonstrate organisation and scheduling skills effective planning, to be creative and solutions focused.
  • Able to communicate with people at all levels
  • Resilience and ability to deal with challenging situations.
  • Previous experience of working with vulnerable adults in a 1:1 setting and personcentered way.
  • Experience of creating and managing personal improvement/wellbeing plans for service users.
  • Ability to work within professional boundaries.
  • Computer literate
  • Full Driving Licence


This is a community-based role and therefore a driving licence with access to a car that can be used for work purposes is essential for this role.

We reimburse work related mileage at 45 pence per mile.


You will need an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for this role and if you don't already hold a valid check on the DBS update service then we will request and pay for this when you join.
